Adults dont like to admit their faults, especially at parenting. Always better to blame something or someone else. How often have you heard "my kid wouldn't do that" when the kids in the principles office or the police station?

I came across two verses in the book of Proverbs that I think would be beneficial as we enter the 2024 e******n season with all it’s debates over issues that are important to this country. The first is Proverbs 18:2 “. A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in expressing his opinion.”
The advice here is if you don’t know what you are talking about don’t talk about it until you do or you will just exposing yourself as a fool.

The second verse is Proverbs 18:17 “The one who states his case first seems right,
until the other comes and examines him.”
The advice here is test everything to see if it is true and right. T***h will be validated by examination and testing and falsehoods will be exposed. T***h welcomes honest examination while falsehoods hide from it. An opinion or position that can not stand up to honest examination and testing is not worth holding.
Looking forward to some honest discussions in the attic during this e******n cycle as we seek out what is true and what is right.

It seems to me like the politicians, these days, are more interested in serving THEMSELVES rather than serving the COUNTRY. The current admistration for example.

I beg to differ with him about Vega Res as there are three boat ramps. Also, Switzer lake is ok to fish in as long as you don't want to eat the fish.
The Gunnison river doesn't connect with the Colorado river 'til it gets to Grand Junction.
Enoch res is owned by the city of Fruita and might sell it .

The CPW sells a booklet for $10 titled Fishing the Grand Mesa. It's worth every penny, telling what lakes/reservoirs are there, what's in them, the size is, special regs, if any, how deep they are how to get there, etc. Good info.

Here are two that come to mind: The first is the one by the SPCA showing abused dogs and cats. These poor creatures totally depend on Humans to care for them and they are so pitifully badly treated.

The one that gets me the most is the one showing very young and tiny children afflicted with cancer with tubes sticking out of them. It really tugs at my heart!

What bothers you?

The thoughts of young kids being sold into slavery of all kinds. Also animals being mistreated. Those "people" should have the same done to them.....Grrrrrrrrrr.

An avid golfer was involved in a terrible car crash and was rushed to the hospital. Just before he was put under, the surgeon popped in to see him. "I have some good news and some bad news," says the surgeon. "The bad news is that I have to remove your right arm!"

"Oh God no!" cries the man. "My golfing is over! Please Doc, what's the good news?"

"The good news is... I have another one to replace it with, but it's a woman's arm and I'll need your permission before I can go ahead with the transplant."

"Go for it, doc," says the man, "as long as I can play golf again."

The operation went well and a year later the man was out on the golf course when he bumped into the surgeon.

"Hi, how's the new arm?" asks the surgeon.

"Just great," says the golfer. "I'm playing the best golf of my life. My new arm has a much finer touch, and my putting has really improved."

"That's great," said the surgeon.

"Not only that," continued the golfer, "my handwriting has improved, I've learned how to sew my own clothes and I've even taken up painting landscapes in water colors.

"That's unbelievable!" said the surgeon, "I'm so glad to hear the transplant was such a great success. Are you having any side effects?"

"Well, just two, said the golfer, "I have trouble parallel parking, and every time I get an erection, I also get a headache.

It all a matter of focus

Good words to live by wulffy.....sometimes not easy to do. I wear shoes and clothes 'til they don't make sense anymore ( wife sometimes cringes), and run my vehicle 'til the wheels are falling off or I just can't make it go anymore. I do feel blessed for everything I have. I payed everything off and built up a nest egg before I retired.

I don't have much but what I do have is good; my wife, our home, our vehicles, my shop and our church. We are blessed!!!!

Bought gas today at Costco, only paid $4.54 per gal. Good thing I didn't need Premium, it would have cost me $5.09. of course I charged it, all I have to do is pay for it now. Forgot to see what diesel was going for, truck is full.

We buy food mostly at Krogers and have their credit card. Every time we buy $100 worth of food, gift cards, etc, there we get $.10 per gallon off at the pump. I filled up at the pump yesterday and got $1.45 a gallon discount. So far this year we've saved over $500 at Krogers. You might look into that.

I agree that braid is the way to go on spinning reels with lower wt leaders. My question is what might I be doing wrong with braid on bc's because occasionally I get a "snaffu" after catching several fish? Is it cutting into the spool and catching itself when casting or what?

when I get a snag I just pull enough line out so I can wrap 6 or so turns around the handle of the pole and pull from the handle 'til either the lure comes loose or the line breaks. When the line breaks, it's almost always at the knot. If the line goes slack before I start to reel in I pinch the line between two fingers until the line has some resistance= no problems. I use 10-15# line and an improved cinch knot for most everything. Just one more reason for the saying...."tight lines".

When I was in Germany I was told we don't speak English, we speak American. Probably so.

We are being bombarded with commercials every day telling us we will feel better, perform better and so on if we consume certain products. I wonder what will be said about them in a 100 years? Do you think it will be what we say now about the "things" people were told were good for them 100 or more years in the past like what was promoted for Laudanum, Opium and other harmful drugs or foods? AND YOU MUST ACT NOW!

By eating enough preservatives you can be sitting in your rocking chair on the porch for a week before they know you're dead.....lol
