That’s correct , also depends on fly choice as to how deep they run on a floater ! Deeper faster water I use Teeny sink tips or on larger water I’ll go with their T series !

Aquaz Waders have served me well , I have several pairs boot foots in winter , stocking foot in warmer months ! One pair just started to leak last season after 6 seasons !
Seam leak easily stopped with Aqua Seal .
I fish trout at least 70 days per year ! Luv their boots very lite very tough !
Prices mid to hi !

The basics incorporate a dry fly as the lead fly , then you can add a second fly by knotting it onto the dry fly hook ,
Many variations 2 nymphs , wet and nymph & do on !
I prefer rigging mine somewhat different , the lead fly whatever you choose is rigged on leader as you would a single fly , about 18”’s in front of this fly I splice in a triangle knot loop . Cut loop so now you have single
line on a loop knot that is as strong as mainline , attach lead fly here !
This is for heavy water , riff , pocket etc .
I have run streamer as normal and rig a nymph in front .
Many combos to meet conditions , your choice . Often times fries can be point with nymph or wet in front , via this loop .
Double streamers can be deadly in various heavy water riffs !

If your a good caster and generally use a DT and over line rod , they cast Ok !
It’s not the best choice in my opinion , I personally prefer 7’ or 7.6 # 4 weight rods !
The longer rods load easier so in close they will usually out per form shorter versions !

Spoons by far , drift don’t reel , best in faster deeper sections of rivers ! Current provides action so match spoon weights to current speed.

30# braid splice in 40 fluoro leader ! If pike get real big in your area , maybe 50# leader . Or short trace of wire as the bite leader .

Can it be tied in 30 seconds on a rocking boat or in low light condition ? If so use it no issue ! I’ll stick with my choice !

My forceps I use in the fresh offer a spot to tighten any knot by being able to hold hook!

Reverse Albright I developed for Power Pro 25 years ago is as good as any, a good knot needs to be easy to tie under most conditions and get up into that 90% failure margin ! This one does both , I coat mine with knot sense fills in gaps nicely and you can trim close after pulled snug ! Most times in heavier lines you will need gloves to cinch correctly !

Yes unless your steelhead fishing in some capacity where very light lines are requires then many go to 9’ + !
Stream trout 7’ max I use , however my 6’6” get most use .
If I was fishing bigger stream with a higher flow then 7’ then 4-6 lb line rating would be my choice !

Rod length is important as is the taper and power of an UL rod !
The longer UL powers allow you to load lighter lures easier and cast them more accurately . The longer blanks allow for more shock absorbency and this feature protects the light line from breaking on bigger tough fish especially in faster water !
Casting a longer blank is much easier with a wider weight range of lures .
There is very little back cast room required the rod loads very easily thus a simple forward stroke is all that’s required to load n cast this style rod !
