Hey yall,

We were chasing some big brown trout with my favorite and in my opinion, the best, trout lure - the Marabou jig. We caught us a beautiful big ole brown and had a blast! What is everyone's favorite lure for trout in general? I want to try them all!

Thanks!

So many good ones out there these days, hard to pick just one over the other.
My list would include and in no special order;Rapala-Shad Rap, Roostertail,Super Duper, Acme Spoon
Little Cleo, Freaky Franks Worm and the tiny Helin Flatfish.

I fish for a different trout, but it is still a valid point. Speckled sea trout in the Laguna Madre are just as crafty as their fresh water cousins and we get some dandies here in South-Texas. Favorite lure? A 3" Vudu Shrimp. I'm not sure if it is because they're scented or because they suspend in a horizontal plane. but they outfish any of the other artificials and occasionally the real thing.

This shows how stupid I'm at fishing ID. In the picture, the fish looks like a rainbow. Not a brown trout.

If was gonna target just a big (BIG) brown trout, the original AC Plug. Out on the water when the rain is beating down and the wind is howling and throw that thing, guarantee if you catch one it will not be a small one.
The one lure I've caught the most trout in general on is a Panther Martin. Nothing beats it in my opinion for streams and rivers. For lakes my number one is a Rebel crawdad. Big craw in the cajun pattern.

I don't have a crawdad lure, but now I know what brand to get.
Now, stupid question #2. What is the cajun pattern?

I think that's what they call it. It's red. Yep, look on amazon, they have it.

A wonderful trout stream runs through my property. I've fished it for 65 years or so. It's a fairly small stream,so a decent fish would run 12-13 inches. Browns and brookies,in good supply. My all time best lure is a Panther Martin #2 or4 spinner. Pretty much never fails.

I’ve fished for trout at a number of different places, different lures for different places. My favorites - Kastmaster, Rooster Tails, Panther Martins, Mepps, Blue Fox top my list, but there are others. Rebels, Rapalas, Flatfish, etc. one obscure lure that is a favorite is called a Rocky Jr. or Inch Minnow. Good luck finding it.
Check with the locals and see what works. Of course even among the locals you will get a difference of opinion.
Tight Lines.

As for lures I say Blue Fox Vibrax without hair in about #3 size, silver or gold depending in on sun or not. I have also caught some nice ones on Acme Kastmaster's and Thomas Bouyant Spoons in brown trout pattern.
