Puerto Morales is on the Riviera Maya, on the Caribbean side. Here is my suggestion and I have done this on many Mexico trips. Head down to the marina in the evening after the fisherman come in. Most of them speak English and will probably approach you anyway. My wife is Mexican and speaks fluent Spanish. This I realize is a huge advantage. She will negotiate a trip for me with one of the local captains. She always looks them in the eye and says " no gringo prices"! We can usually get out with one of them within the next day or so. Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip!

Boat type to own is dependent on what kind of fisherman you are.
I look at pontoon boats as a dock boat, not great mobility.
Pontoon boats are great for large numbers of people.
Pontoons can double as a camper.
So, I have a friend who has a 24' pontoon.

My boat choice is your flats boat.
Small, it is just for the 2 of us.
I can move from lake to lake with ease.
Economical 9.9 runs all day on 3 gal of gas.
trolling motor is 12v. 55. runs almost all day.
No dock expense.
Insurance is cheap.

The most important thing I've learned from this form is:
I'm not the only one that gets skunked.

They all drank poison. To be taken to the comet after they died.

Gunsmoke is there along with Have Gun Will Travel.

Those were very good years. I'm surprised that the memory recall is so vivid.

Satellite radio has a channel called Classic Radio. All of those old programs and more are on it 24/7.

I would love it, except the only satellite radio I have is in my car, and that's as bad as texting. I lose driving concentration, listening to a story, or audio books.

I was one of those who sat in the living room in the evening around the radio, listening.
I do remember the deep voice of Sam Spade.

And Sgt Preston, Jack Benny, Roy Rodgers, Sky King, Lucy, The Shadow, and others.

It was a time when your family sat together quietly, your imagination forming the scene as it was described. Can you imagine that happening today, with every one's thumbs hammering away.
