No one addressed the issue of the hair rig?
I know they work very well but don’t understand how they work.
A friend of mine fished for Carp exclusively and that is all he uses and catches gigantic carp.
He makes his own rigs and he may even sell them through Amazon.

Lots of what is being discussed here is not a conventional hair rig. That set up is bait ball suspended below the hook on the “hair” (normally thick nylon braid with a crossmember on the end to hold the bait) so the fish ingests the bait ball down its throat while the hook remains in its mouth. Think of putting a hook on the end of your line with another small piece of line extending below the hook. This technique ensures the fish doesn’t swallow the hook so there’s no needless fish kill for what is a great fighting “trash fish” not many in our country eat. Just google hair rig pics if you can’t visualize by my description
I fish specifically for carp quite often, so i’ve tried hair rigs a few times. Someone mentioned “boilies” like they fish in UK and EU in general and it works well. Boilies are boiled dough balls that are a harder bait so tgey stay on the rig. I like to fish a soft dough which does NOT work on these threaded rigs. I can’t cast them at all. The concept is very sound and effective if you use the correct bait.
Had a great day fishing the boardwalk in front of Harrah’s. Small cats and silver trout and this big boy. Just wanted to share.
Grouping and jumping typically indicate spawn is on. Good luck getting them to bite anything.

Too much heavy weather the first time around. We never made it because of storm damage near home. However, finally here and although nothing to speak of fish wise, I have been catching many rays on dead shrimp. First time for me, so I’m pleased. Powerful little animals even at 15-16 inches across. Can’t imagine what a large ray can do.
We’re here in the area this week as well. While visiting the casino’s around Gulfport and Biloxi I saw lots of public’s access beaches and piers that encourage fishing. Head east from your position. While not free, I saw online that a 1 day salt water is about $9, 3 day is around $20.
I make carp dough ball out of either cooked cornmeal and /or oats. I snack on it while fishing even today.
Me and the carp prefer strawberry Jello infused dough! 😂😂😂
Carp love fruit flavored dough ball in my experience. Carp also love corn, although I wouldn’t use corn to fish for anything you don’t intend to keep and eat.
I caught many trout on sweet corn out of a can as a youngster.
Thanks all! Seems I may need to invest a couple bucks to try these.
Doing a little surf fishing in a couple weeks and the infamous "they" claim that the artificial bait Fish Bites can be effective baits in saltwater surf. Anyone have experience or an opinion on these things? Thanks!
make the NC for North Carolina!
GA apparently like to make you work. Only a couple of lakes listed here. You can always cross into NS and catch all you want out of one of the Kiddie pay lakes for $6-$8.50/lb. I got skunked pretty good for eaters walking the Nantahala River, so I stopped at one on the way home and 10 mintues and $75 later and I had 5 nice fat 2lber's in my cooler. Sad but true story! They ate good though...
