I believe eBay charges now to list an item even if it doesn't sell. I could be wrong and I don't know how much. I know that the last time I looked at eBay it seemed like all businesses and very few individuals listing items. Again, I may have been looking at the wrong items. Your mileage may vary.

I don't think I would trash them before at attempting to sell them though. Might try Facebook marketplace...

That is good news. In Texas ours expires every August 31st. Would be nice to be able to buy a license in June and it be valid for 365 days.

....but I'm not counting. It's getting harder and harder to keep my opinions about stupid stuff to myself.

Lord, please help me keep my mouth shut for 22 more days!

I’ve got planer boards that disconnect when hooked up by means of a clip. After landing fish just go back and retrieve your board
I haven’t been able to find any clips I like. I tie a rubber band to the line at distance I want , and then clip this rubber band to the planer

Ben,

So fish on disconnects the board completely? Interesting.

As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I learned a lot about drift fishing on my trip. One of the things that I learned a little bit about was the use of planers to separate multiple lines while drifting. I suppose they could also be used for trolling. Anyway, my first question is how do you land a fish if you are out by yourself and using planers? Yesterday it was a multiple person, multiple hand task to remove the planer from the line and then land the fish. It would seem to me that if fishing by yourself, like I frequently do, there would be a lot of slack in the line while disconnecting and potential for losing the fish.

Suggestions and insight appreciated.

Just got them all bagged. 35lbs of fillets. I see a family fish fry in the near future.

We had a pretty good day "drift fishing" for Blues today on Lake Tawakoni. The bite was a little slow but we ended up with 20 blues. A couple of them were pretty nice and one that was about 12 lbs. Unfortunately, the scales weren't working so this was our best "guestimate". It was my first time for drift fishing. I learned quite a bit that I hope to be able to duplicate.

I'm a crappie fisherman. Not a good one...but I try. I'm branching out tomorrow and taking a guided trip on my local lake to fish for catfish. This time of year it's a "keeper" trip for Blues and Channels. I hope to learn a lot. In the winter months they run "trophy trips" to catch the big blues. I might save up my dimes for that trip if tomorrow goes well.

The weather is looking pretty good but a tad windy for the lake we will be fishing. Maybe we can find some protected coves to fish.

I hope to have some pictures to post tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you all for the great responses! I truly appreciate the time you took to answer my question.

I haven't made a decision yet but now I have information upon which to base my decision.

Best,

My "boat guy" was kind enough to take me out this morning for a demo of the new Lowrance unit this morning. After seeing it...I'm going to stick with Garmin. I had high hopes for Lowrance since it's cheaper but it just didn't "do it for me."

I did manage to catch a nice crappie using the Lowrance so it was a fun morning. I do appreciate the time that Dakota from Tadpoles Marine in Hugo, OK spent with me to demo the Lowrance.

I'm trying to decide if I want to equip my new boat with lithium batteries. Duties include the trolling motor, Garmin Livescope, 2 displays, traditional boat electronics including music for when we are just out playing, and of course starting the "big engine".

Here are my thoughts so far;

They have longer life. They are A LOT more expensive. They are lighter weight (if that matters). They charge quicker. They don't seem to have the gradually declining charge that traditional lead and acid batteries do. They seem to go from "just fine" to "dead" quickly.

I would like to hear your input.

I understand...things have changed in the company where I work. Time for me to GO!
