thx crunchy. we have lived in Hope for nearly 20 years but my flyfishing experience is new. i am only interested in fishing streams for trout, whatever. am familiar with the slough and lightening creek. hope to have some success in this area this summer

There is good fishing on the Lightning Creek drainage, however, you have to pick your fishing areas if you do any flyfishing as the bank area has plenty overhanging trees and bushes. If you take off on the road towards Sandpoint, you will come to a semi bridge that crosses Pack River. Between Hope and Pack River train trestle there is plenty of fishing opportunity where you can use flyfishing gear. While in Hope ask how to get over to Johnston Creek. At the launch area there is a tie-up floating pier that you can walk out on and fish from the end with fair results. If you flyfish the Lightning Crick area, I've found the Yellow Sally fly to be quite productive and, of course a worm and bobber has always been good for my grandson. I carry a 9' 3wt. rod and a 9' 5wt rod in a twin pack.
also, a 7'3wt. rod for the sheer sport and enjoyment of it.

Lots of luck and enjoy the surroundings as you may never that close to heaven again.

GOD Bless and all the best of luck. Crunchy Send me a P.M.

Coach.
The community of hope is up by Sand Point at the northern portion of Lake Ponderay, only on the east side.
Google it up on your computer.

hoping to learn all i can from others and become familiar with awesome fishing spots where i can fish from shore and bring my 13 foot camping trailer. thankyou all in advance

FFW If you are new to the Hope area and, are now living there, you can fish the slough right down in front of Hope.
Try down along Denton slough. but no trailers. Just drive south towards Clark Fork and look to your right across the tracks where you can walk down to the Lake. Go on up Lightning creek road once you get to Clark Fork. It's hard to find a place to park your trailer though. Most places you can just walk right to Lightning creek once you leave the
paved road. Mostly just rainbow and cutthroat in that drainage.

Good luck to you and hope you enjoy the beautiful country around the area. I sure love it there.

I’m fairly new to fishing. Didn't do a lot of growing up, but trying to remedy that with my kids. Looking for suggestions for locations in Central and Eastern Washington. And what specific bait/lures are working in those areas. We are getting hooked on it, but not very good at it yet.

Is there a time of day when you want to fish off the bottom vs. bobber fish closer to the surface? I also have some water bobbers, but don’t think Im using them quite right. Are you supposed to half fill them so the stay on the surface? Or fill them up more so they sink a bit?

Any suggestions for a semi-newby for my area would be greatly appreciated.

Cbecker, as for fish'en you are in one of the hot spots in Washington. The Yakima is a very good spot to teach
the kids fishing. Also up to Moses Lake and the Potholes. Talk to any bait shop and they will understand your
want for teaching the kids to fish and point you in the right direction. If you are really into quality fisn'en drift
over a little more east and try the Grand Ronde river. Also, out of Pasco is the Snake river. Better check the
water conditions there first. A person could spend weeks exploring that area of the state.

Best of fish'en to you and the kids.

Kerry, I do some long distance driving each year from So. Cal. to N. Idaho. At 300 miles a charge it would
take me the whole fishing season just to get where the fishing is! And what a motel bill! !

What really has me going is what happens when there is a huge backup and cars are stalled from H##L to breakfast? Looking at my Battery indicator it's down in the RED and no way to get off this asphalt jungle
for any kind of a battery charge. You just can't carry extra batteries like a flash light! and the guy behind
you sure can't lend you one, besides he's laying on his horn for you to get moving.

And this is called progress? Boy, do we have long way to go! ! !

Dakoda. I think the guy with the walker is the same guy that wanted to sell one to me just for that
same purpose. My doctor is a fly fisherman and advises me to give up the white-water trekking
without a flotation devise of some kind. My 30-year-old mind doesn't agree with him, however, my
88-year-old -body has to go along with the better learned thinking! So, now I mostly tie flies for my
much younger friends and the guys and gals in the VA hospital.

I love to fish with ultralight spinning equipment. There are times when nothing is better for catching crappie and bluegills than a tiny Trout Magnet jig on 2-lb test line. The 2-lb line is necessary; 4-lb test line just won't allow the tiny little baits to be cast any distance at all. But, I have a problem caused by too many birthdays. I can't see the line, can't feel it, and have painful arthritis in both thumbs. Consequently, I am simply unable to tie knots unless the lighting is very good. Today I had tied on a jig in my well-lit shop at home, but broke it off landing a good bluegill. I gave up trying to tie another one on. Does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with this situation?

Jack. The thing that will keep on giving is to teach your grandson to tie the knots that you use the most and
bring him along on your outings. Oh, and be sure to take some pictures of the moment! ! !

Water Dog. I just gave my great great grand son my P-38 along with my Dog Tags so he would
have something for show and tell at school, along with a little history for his class.

I'm sure many of the kids in school don't even know that front line food was prepared in little cans.
Some of that wasn't all that bad either. I do like Spam, but even that can go a long way.

Spirit. My SIL is one of the crane operators in the LA harbor that unloads the container ships that come in.
And YES, we both feel the backup of items that come from China. And they are short of truck drivers to hall
the goods away. The docks are full and very little space to store the goods coming off the container ships.

You probably read that one of the ships dropped anchor right on top of an oil line coming from a drilling rig
that caused quite an oil leakage all over our beaches. So now they are making the ships anchor 50 miles off the
coast out in the ocean.

Is this Chinas way of getting to us?

If you did hit it big, let's say the prize is 500 million - what would you do?
Instant payout or spread over 20 years?

How would you handle being suddenly wealthy?

I already have my answer to this, I'll post it tomorrow.

There's a joke about an old Iowa farmer who hit it big. Everyone wanted to know what he would do with so much money. He replied "I reckon I'll just farm 'til it's all used up!"

Barnacles, No mater what you with it, or what your intensions are, there is someone always trying to take
it away from you by hook or crook. Many of the good charities all have an overseer that wants to rerire to

PNW. Sorry to say that broken rods have not been a problem. But, missimg rods seems to be of consern
in some small airlines. I find that FED-EX or UPS is much more reliable a way to transport your gear, as it is
not so noitaceable as other luggage. Just my experience.

Jack, I flyfish and tie my own flies. If tying a fly smaller than a # 20, then I tie my tippet on the fly while
still in the vise and leave about 2' or so off the eye. When I am on the water I can slect my fly of choice
and clip the tippet to the lenght needed for the depth of water. I easly put a loop in the end of the tippet and
use a "loop to loop" to my leader to finish the job. I have found that a davy knot is plenty strong ebough to
use with a small hook and tippet and has brought to hand several good sized trout without failure.

Lots of luck on the water. Crunchy
