FFW If you are new to the Hope area and, are now living there, you can fish the slough right down in front of Hope.
Try down along Denton slough. but no trailers. Just drive south towards Clark Fork and look to your right across the tracks where you can walk down to the Lake. Go on up Lightning creek road once you get to Clark Fork. It's hard to find a place to park your trailer though. Most places you can just walk right to Lightning creek once you leave the
paved road. Mostly just rainbow and cutthroat in that drainage.

Good luck to you and hope you enjoy the beautiful country around the area. I sure love it there.

Coach.
The community of hope is up by Sand Point at the northern portion of Lake Ponderay, only on the east side.
Google it up on your computer.

Welcome to the site. Do you have a float tube? If not, you might want to try one.

If fly-fishing is your thing, don't sell smallmouth short on a small popper or Royal Wulff (sp).

There is good fishing on the Lightning Creek drainage, however, you have to pick your fishing areas if you do any flyfishing as the bank area has plenty overhanging trees and bushes. If you take off on the road towards Sandpoint, you will come to a semi bridge that crosses Pack River. Between Hope and Pack River train trestle there is plenty of fishing opportunity where you can use flyfishing gear. While in Hope ask how to get over to Johnston Creek. At the launch area there is a tie-up floating pier that you can walk out on and fish from the end with fair results. If you flyfish the Lightning Crick area, I've found the Yellow Sally fly to be quite productive and, of course a worm and bobber has always been good for my grandson. I carry a 9' 3wt. rod and a 9' 5wt rod in a twin pack.
also, a 7'3wt. rod for the sheer sport and enjoyment of it.

Lots of luck and enjoy the surroundings as you may never that close to heaven again.

GOD Bless and all the best of luck. Crunchy Send me a P.M.
