Hi Lilly, if you and everyone else will use QUOTE REPLY when answering folk we will all know who you are replying to. Don't use reply, use QUOTE REPLY. I've only been to Biloxi once and loved it. You're very lucky except when the hurricanes roll through. I live in the Norfolk/ Va. Beach area so what you don't get we do. Happy fishing/tight lines. Mike

Hey there old timer from another old timer fisherman. Looking for someone to go with. Where do you live?

If you use QUOTE REPLY instead of REPLY we will know who you are replying to. Pass it on and it will catch on. It makes for much better conversation. Thanks, Mike

Hey Oldtimer, my first ever catch on rod and reel was in 1954 in a cattle farm pond just outside of Jackson Ms.

My dad was popper fishing for bream and my sister and I were on the beach with bobbers over minnows. My bobber went down and I set the hook but couldn't reel the critter in. That should give you a clue. At any rate I hollered for my dad to help. He reeled in a 2/12 to 3 foot moccasin. My very first catch.

It turns out my father was deathly afraid of any snakes after having experienced a young boy being swallowed by either a python or such in Papua New Guinea during WW11.

He told me to get him a stick to kill the thing with and all I could find was a 2x8 about 4' long. After he got finished cussing because he couldn't get a good grip on it, in true Marine Corp(the P is silent) tradition, he figured it out and dispatched the serpent thus my younger sister and I were saved to fish another day. I fished a lot below the dam in North Wilksboro, NC. Caught some bass when bass fishing but had a real blast catching carp in the swift water below the dam. Used store bought carp bait and added a little vanila to it and kneaded it into the bait. Most carp were in the 6 pound range...I fished every day during my lunch time at Ithica Industries clothing factory....even when it was snowing. Not a day went by when I didn't catch a fish. Seriously...what a place to fish. Nobody fishes for carp but they are nuts for not doing it...I released all that I caught. Now I'm in Florida. No carp here.

People should check out how they cook and eat carp in Minnesota. I thought they were trash fish but apparently if done right they are really good eating. Check out this on food channel. Mike

I started cutting fish at a commercial seafood market in South Florida as a college student and went on to own my on market for many years, I have literally cut thousands of pounds of fish. A really good fillet knife for smaller softer fish as fresh water trout and sea trout is made by CUTCO. It comes with a really cool plastic sheath and sharpening stone attach, and the blade is adjustable! CUTCO is made in up state New York and make excellent culinary knifes as well, a really good fillet knife and sharp!

I have one as a gift from my daughter when she worked for CUTCO. It is one of the best fillet knives you can own. It has adjustable blade length, holds an edge well and as stated has a touch up stone on the sheath. At full length the blade is flexible, shortened to 6" it's stiff.

I live in the Chesapeake Bay area and catch flounder, trout as well as Norfolk Spots, croaker, cobia, etc. so this knife works well in handling different species very well. Again the blade holds it's edge really well.

I'm not trying to sell CUTCO, my daughter hasn't work for them for 15 years but I do believe in their fillet knife. Mike

Try bacon, you don't need much, maybe 1/4 of a slice, and it won't come off the hook easily. Mike
