Does bread work on smaller catfish? also whats the best bait for them?

Catfish just eat. People use hot dogs, bacon, stank bait, etc. You could probably toss a dog turd out there.

well ive tried using chicken liver, corn, bread, worms, and shrimp but nothings been working :( ive been salt drying some squid lately to try out. hopefully that works

I forgot about chicken livers. That's usually a hit. Where are you, and what kind of cats are you trying to catch?

What about cut bait? Chop up some bluegills or whatever sunfish you have there, have you tried it?

idk where to find them lol ive never seen them or caught them in my life. im surrounded by canals so im not sure if sunfish are in them

Im NC but chicken liver is best for a guarantee. If you are looking for a large one we use cast net or bloodworm for smaller bait fish then bottom rig with live bait through sunset for the big ones. I havent tried it yet but you can use nylon pantyhose as a net for the chicken liver to keep it from the little fish picking away at and cleaning your hook (chicken liver).

100% this! I mainly target catfish and I have tried everything people swear by and even weird random stuff I've heard and nothing beats big ball of fat nightcrawlers. Also make sure to look up the laws for using cast net to catch bait fish and also if you can use bait like bluegills....I'm in MN and cast nets are very illegal to use and also using bluegills as bait is illegal here.
