Over time I have accumulated a few soft plastics ( probably 50 lbs) I see something in the bait shop or someone said get some of those. Try them and then go back to the old favorites. I have 4 go to plastics that I use 90% of the time. Green pumpkin sinko ,wood and weeds, 7” ribbon tail power worm pumpkin seed ,low light wood and weeds, 4” pumpkin purl ring worm ,wood brush and tree tops. 7” zoom pumpkin chartreuse ribbon tail ,everything works well in rocks also.

Hello Mike. I too have at least 50 lbs of excess soft plastics. Last year I threw out probably 15 lbs. I fish wacky worms, crawdads & a few tube jigs & the rest of the soft plastics just gathers dust. I must be nuts cause I'll see something that looks good & buy a pack or 2. I hit the flea market every Saturday & scrounge for lures. I can't pass up an estate or garage sale looking for anything fishing related. I don't drink or smoke so I guess this is my bad habit. Love it.

5/19/23 Eat steamed crabs for the first time this year at Suicide Bridge Restaurant/Marina. They were very very good. We got the large fresh from the Choptank River. Had the best waitress as always. Also checked out the snow crabs, and The crab soup was loaded with crab meat as always. The Tiki Bar Deck is open now. ****

Hello Andy. We have crabs here in Oklahoma but not the eatable kind. I've had crab legs several times but it's just too much trouble for such a small piece of meat. Does the body of the crab in your photo's contain meat or are only the legs eatable? The soup in your photo looks very good. I had fresh Conch chowder in the Florida keys & it was wonderful. Different foods in different parts of the land.

Well I have mentioned before I am really hearing challenged, and now After 8 years on this pair, the left has failed so it has been doubly hard to hear anything and especially listening to My BFF widow has been calling and asking me questions. Thankfully my wife could get on line to help hear. Anyway when I inquired about getting them looked at, I was told that the Manufacturer charges have gone up for repairs from about $100 when I had to have them sent in to now $350. My wife who has to deal with me not hearing her is getting tired of it, and I can't blame her, Main reason when I joined the Navy in the 1950's they said you can't be a SONAR MAN. Funny how later in life I became in charge of the Sonar section in Design division for the Navy as a Civilian Engineer. Anyway with the increased sophistication it looks like a pair may cost 6 big ones. Going in Thursday to see what is available.

Hello Kerry. If you are a navy veteran look into getting your hearing aids from the VA. I have had hearing aids for the last 15 or so years & couldn't be happier with my VA experience. My neighbor also has hearing aids from VA & he has no service disability. It's just a benefit you earned, go for it. Tight lines & good luck.

Anyone fish with a wrap around casting rod, i.e., where the guides start at the top of the blank, then spiral around so that towards and at the rod tip they're positioned under the blank like a spinning rod? Brands include Spiralite and Taipan. This configuration supposedly creates a more natural bend under load and reduces sideways torque. If you fish with one, what do you think? Real deal or gimmick? TW has them on sale right now and I've been eyeing them the past couple years but haven't pulled the trigger.

Hello DG. I have 2 such rods & used them quite a bit after I first bought them. Both rods are 6 footers & I really prefer 7 ft so they were both retired early. When fighting a fish there is very little sideways torque. When first casting the rod I had a tendency to short cast but I got over that quickly. I believe 1 rod is from a company called "castaway" & was quite pricey when I bought it probably 20 years or more ago. Nowadays I'm quite happy with the new rods that weight next to nothing. I never considered minor rod twist or torque an issue.

Any report is appreciated

The Oklahoma Wildlife issues a regular & helpful fishing report on most major Oklahoma lakes, including Oologa. If you will visit the website @ wildlifedepartment.com you can sign up to receive the free report & read the report issued May 3 on Oologa. I love fishing for blue cat in Oologa. Just remember, if you are new to the lake, the wind can get up suddenly & become dangerous. Tight lines.

Thank you so much. Did you have any favorite spots?

No favorite spots. Lots of necks & arms that always produced. Ft Cobb was always a very good catfish lake & chicken livers work great there. Wrap that liver in a piece of panty hose & it'll stay on the hook. Hope your child kids have a great time.

Some people may call this pic of my lure-making area "a hurricane of fishing junk", others as "not enough lure-making supplies within arms reach".

Hi Summit. There's an old Apache Indian says that fits your situation
'A clean desk is a sign of a sick
mind'. Your mess looks more organized than my mess.

Hello Milesh. Welcome to forum. Before I retired & moved to the NE part of our wonderful state I fished ft Cobb often. Spinnerbaits, swimsuits & crankbaits all worked well. Soft plastic crayfish Texas rigged were especially good. Tight lines.

You been fishing as of late?

Howdy Oz. Sadly the answer to your fishing question is "no". I've caught a couple messes of fish but I've been tied up settling my parents estate for the last month. I was the administrator & I had to make numerous trips across the state to talk with property buyers, bankers & all that HS. Anyway, I sent out the final checks to my brother & sister last week so next week I can get back on the water. I've missed the crappie spawn but my real favorite will start with the full moon in May. The bluegill spawn. I have my 10 ft inflatable pontoon ready to go. Had to buy a new battery. Boy, has that little artifact gone up in price! I was going through Oklahoma City couple weeks ago & stopped at a tackle store & bought myself a new Shimamo Stradic 1000 hgfl. Way too nice a reel for the likes of me but it should be a great bluegill reel. Can't wait to get into those bluegill beds. Been put onto a 1200 acre lake SE of here that's supposed to be fantastic bluegill fishing. Take care Oz & have a great weekend.

I like fried hearts.

I never knew chicken had any part besides broth til I went in the army. After I learned of the other parts I quickly became a breast man. I love gizards & livers, fresh, not frozen & not fried til they are crispy critters. No heart, I'm not eating a fuel pump even though I love the filter. I also love chicken noodles soup. Take care Oz.

Hello Fred. Don't believe there was ever a box of store bought cereal in my mom's kitchen. I do remember getting Cream of Wheat & Malt o Meal. I didn't like the Malt o Meal. She made corn meal mush which I loved (still do) & regular breakfast stuff like eggs, pancakes, biscuits & gravy. I have since learned to eat a couple brands of cold cereal. Tight lines.

Mine too, but White Birch is a close second.

Hi Fred. The Amish store north of town sells that Birch & ginger beer. Pretty good stuff. If I drink a real beer I just can't drink enough water afterwards. Totally dries out my tongue. When I buy beer for making biscuits & pancakes I buy Budweiser. To my taste buds it jmparts the best flavor. Never used it for fish batter. i want my fish to taste like fish. Take care Fred

All of the sturgeon we have caught were within the Tulsa city limits in the Arkansas River, and have been caught on shrimp, crawdads and worms while tight lining and fishing for catfish...

I might just have to give that technique a try this summer. I would love to catch one and if it was 24 inches long I would definitely put sturgeon on my table. Tight lines
