Well I have mentioned before I am really hearing challenged, and now After 8 years on this pair, the left has failed so it has been doubly hard to hear anything and especially listening to My BFF widow has been calling and asking me questions. Thankfully my wife could get on line to help hear. Anyway when I inquired about getting them looked at, I was told that the Manufacturer charges have gone up for repairs from about $100 when I had to have them sent in to now $350. My wife who has to deal with me not hearing her is getting tired of it, and I can't blame her, Main reason when I joined the Navy in the 1950's they said you can't be a SONAR MAN. Funny how later in life I became in charge of the Sonar section in Design division for the Navy as a Civilian Engineer. Anyway with the increased sophistication it looks like a pair may cost 6 big ones. Going in Thursday to see what is available.

Wow I just got back from my VA appointment to get my earring aids fitted. $8,000.00 worth that did not cost me a dime. If you are not in the VA system you should get in( not hard at all to do) let them pay for it because you have earned it

I hear you ( no pun intended ) Kerry. Had my annual last month and was told I had a 5% loss from 1 1/2 years ago. They want me to invest in a set and I said no, TV volume ranges from 10 - 12 any higher I will think about it.

My guy said starting at $ 5K.

Troy doesn't the VA have some conditions that have to be met in order to get everything? Income level, been in conflicts, or disabled to name a few?

I don't know if that was a requirement Kerry, It's just a phone call if you can get through and get a live voice.

I am a disabled vet100% but they have never asked me about my income. As stated earlier if you are in the system you should be good Get a hearing test from the VA. They may require you to go outside the VA but they will or can determine if you need them. My Doctor told me today that mine are warranted for 3 years if anything happen they would repair or replace them Then they will change them and update them every 5 years. All and all it cost me nothing. All I had to do was signed that I received them. A lot of people complain about the BA but I have never had an issue.

Get registered with V A . You may or not be entitled. I did not retire. Just need a disability. You may qualify because of where you were or what you did. Save me $$$$$$$ so far.

So very true. You do not have to retire. As long as you served. You may not be entitle to all the benefits but you are entitled. It’s worth checking out. You don’t have anything at all to lose but your time. Look at VA.Gov it tells you a lot. If anyone has questions just PM me and I will help all I can At least try.

Can't you get free ones from the VA ?
Sorry guys. I didn't read all the responses before I answered.
However, I believe anyone that served and has hearing loss is entitled to hearing 3.
Also, it's not that hard to prove your hearin loss is service connected. If you think it was.
Between all the firearms and the flight line they gave me 40% hearing loss + 10% for the tinnitus. So that's 50% service connected disability. All my medical , except dental, is covered at 100%.

All so true. I got my new ones yesterday. $8,000.00 worth. They will update with new ones every 5 years. You can also get dental. Just call and make your appointment. Not bashing anyone. Our problems with BA is that we give up when someone tells us no Most people who works in the VA never served and are only there for the benefits. They don’t care nor really know much about the VA. You have a VSO Veteran Service Officer in your county. No appointment needed so you can go there and get all your information.

Check with the DAV or American Legion also. They advocate for Vets and know their way around the system. Also, file a claim for disability. It may take a while to navigate the system (DAV can help) but if successful benefits start as of the date of claim.

And don't forget to put in your mileage claims plus keep receipts from toll roads and bridges.
