Hello 1313. I was telling a friend about the photo & he informed me that he caught a 24 inch sturgeon in the Arkansas River near Tulsa several years ago. It was foul hooked, not legally caught & was turned loose. No photo. I will be man enough to eat the hind legs off a frog, maybe tonight. I've fished below Dennison dam & compared to the clear cold water sturgeon actually live in I just couldn't imagine one surviving in that warm muddy water. Tight lines.
Hey BC. We have a lot of Sturgeon fishin out here on our rivers and bays. The water is always kinda muddy to VERY muddy.
3 feet of visibility is GOOD, 2 feet is pretty good, 1 foot is fair 6 inches sometimes is the norm and lately we've only had a couple of inches. And still lots of Sturgeon caught.
I don't really care to fish for them. It's way to slow fishin for me and since I don't eat them it is a waste of time to catch and land one for me. I'd MUCH rather fish for Stripers. That's JMO though.
