Bapa, what east side lakes you going to? I'm originally from Spokane and have fished alot of lakes around there and north Idaho. Some great fishing there at certain times of the year.
The season here is July 1 to September 1, then a winter season sometimes in November and December. They are easy to get. Only 60 to 90 feet deep. I have never not got my limits in a 3 hour soak. San Juan Islands, North puget sound.
Correct. The minimum size rules in WA state are 6.25 inches for Dungeness and 5 inches for Rock crabs. One crab makes a nice meal.
Come out west to Washington state and get you some big Dungeness 🦀. Lol.
South Whidbey high tide and 2 hrs after. Pick a beach.
For plunking use small pink spin n glow with pink dyed shrimp. Maybe add a cookie. Need to make sure it's not sitting on the bottom. 18 inch dropper, 3 to 4 oz weight
I went crabbing 2 days in a row last Thursday and Friday. 4 pots with chicken legs first day. I put krill powder on chicken day before. Easily limited out. Threw back at least 10 keeper males and over 20 females. Had 10 limit, 2 licenses. Second day same story but used salmon scraps. Pots in 80 feet deep produced best. South of Cornet Bay.
That is a 2 1/2 Oz pink buzz bomb in the picture
Pretty sure drifting yarn tip is for fishing the rivers, not fishing in the ocean from the beach.
Fort Casey Beach and the other beach south of the ferry launch. Don't see how yarn from shore would work at all . Use pink 2 to 3oz buzz bomb with siwash. It's sight fishing, when a school comes by they will be jumping out of the water 30 feet + from shore.
I will smoke them. Need to catch about 4 more to fill the smoker.
Pinks are easily had from beach in south Whidbey Island. Between high tide and 2 hrs after was prime time. Sorry for the dirty fish. The bag I had them in broke on the hike up from the beach. 3 of us limited out in 2 hrs
Thanks. I understand the Skagit River rules. I'm referring to fishing area 8-1 in the salt. What locations are good?
Thanks for the info DC! I appreciate it!
Thanks, DC I'm familiar with the shore fishing from Deception Pass. I will be using my boat. Where do you go in Area 8-2?
