How do you know it’s not donated by Amazon or the Big Pharmacy Company. I have no idea who provided the gift card. I really doubt it was Medicaid or Medicare though. If it was them it would be for medical reasons and would be medicine. You can assume wh**ever you want but assumptions are just that.

I did think of that, and they may have some type of agreement with the companies, but, given all the services that receive a gift card, I think the dollar amount would be too large for an outright donation. I’m guessing millions or hundreds of millions.

I think my issue may be mostly personal. My in-laws are grade A moochers. We have given them thousands of dollars over the years that they have wasted or spent illegally, so I probably resent them receiving anything they do not earn.

I still think it’s wasteful, but probably doesn’t deserve the attention I’m giving it.

This time I may actually be whining.

yes wistful but my guess is they think they will save money in the. long run if everyone they covergetsthe Flue shot and not the Flue. but still sad they think they have to bribe people and in reality those who are not going to get the shot most likely won't for $20

I’m sure that’s possible, but I think if that were the case then all insurance companies would do it.

I hope this post isn’t too long, but I wanted some other opinions on this. Spoiler alert… it really pissed me off, but maybe someone can talk me down off my high horse.

First let me say this; I’m not against Medicaid in any way. Those less fortunate should have access to medical care… that’s not my issue.

My sister-in-law is on Medicaid and she is going to get a free flu shot… again, I have no issue with this; flu shots are free a lot of places and even if they weren’t, they should be covered by Medicaid… that’s not my issue.

My issue is that she receives a $20 gift card to Amazon or several other places if she gets a flu shot!! Why? I fully support my tax dollars funding medical care for those who can’t afford it, but why are taxpayers paying to hand out free money to access those services? She went on to say that she gets additional rewards for other services as well.

I suspect that the umbrella insurance group that administers her care gets paid so well by Medicaid that they want to entice people to access services.

Wasteful, wasteful, wasteful…. In my opinion.

Why ask them? The us and them is the problem in our country. United States and United We Stand is more like it.

Why ask them? BECAUSE the us and them is a problem in our country. No two people think alike, and there are people with viewpoints all along the liberal/conservative spectrum. Why not listen to people who think differently than you and try to understand the basis of their viewpoints? Maybe, just maybe, one of you will hear something you never thought of before. Too many discussions turn to name calling instead of an exchange of ideas. Maybe if we did “ask them” more often there wouldn’t be as much of a divide. We can all stand united for a better America without all of us thinking the same way. But, then again, maybe I’m just whining.

Maybe some should just not watch TV or go online. If all they are going to do is whine about it all I think they are the people with a problem including their bodyguard it appears. I have much better things to do than spend all my time worrying about things like this. Like going fishing with Fishingstage buddy’s. Have fun I wonder what the next thing to whine about will be.

If I get offended, then I get offended. What’s the big deal? I’m offended that you think I’m offended, but I appreciate that you didn’t feel the need to warn me before I read the message.

There was a time that only the most offensive material carried warnings; mainly to warn parents that it was not suitable for children. Usually the warning was reserved for extreme violence, gore, sexuality and/or explicit language. If Bonanza needs a warning then virtually everything needs a warning. Maybe everything older than 10 years needs a warning, just in case something has changed since then. Maybe the rule should be 5 years. Or maybe everything needs a warning just in case. Then the warnings would be meaningless and we would have no way of discerning when something will offend us. What will we do then???!!! Retreat to the safe place where everyone thinks the same as us.

No sir, or ma’am, or neither,

I do not. Times and standards change throughout history. What was culturally accepted and commonplace during another time, may not be the norm today. The fact that we evolve as a people is normal and expected. The attitudes and practices of today will be considered wrong 50 years from now, and so on, and so on.

My issue with this warning has nothing to do with whether or not I agree with the way things are portrayed on Bonanza. My issue is that people get offended so easily nowadays that there needs to be a warning. I get offended from time to time… bid deal. Get over it. Do we need a warning on everything that is the slightest bit controversial? So that nobody gets their feelings hurt? If so, then people need to just stay in their safe place with people who think just like them.

I saw this message before a TV program today. What program would warrant such an important warning? The show must be awfully offensive to need a warning to avoid such serious psychological harm to an unsuspecting viewer……

The show was Bonanza! Yes, Bonanza has apparently caused such irreparable harm to all of us who watched it as kids, that it now needs a warning.

Sad, sad, sad!

The water is cleaner East of the Mississippi River so the mullet can be eaten there. Here in Texas they are bait, nothing more. Gill nets are illegal, so you have to catch them with a cast net. The live fingerlings are great for trout and the larger mullet can be used as cut bait for redfish. You need an aerator to keep them alive, it’s hard to keep them alive in a floating bait bucket.

Well, the big one got away and the other fish weren’t pic worthy, so no fish pics. Sorry.

I did take a lake pic, so that’ll have to do this time.

My first time on this lake. Started off fishing a watermelon fluke off a main lake point with hydrilla. In the first 10 minutes I got a 5-7 pounder up to the boat, but it came off as I clumsily tried to get the net that was still safely tucked away in the bottom of the boat. Note to self…. Take the time to make the net accessible from the get go!

One more 16 inch fish came pretty quick afterward… no net needed.

Other than a couple of dinks later in the morning, that was all I got. I caught the dinks on a watermelon/red worm.

I should have caught several more fish. They were very active in the morning and I missed several hits. Still was a good day.

Weather was cool and cloudy. Winds light and variable.
