Sad Times….
I saw this message before a TV program today. What program would warrant such an important warning? The show must be awfully offensive to need a warning to avoid such serious psychological harm to an unsuspecting viewer……
The show was Bonanza! Yes, Bonanza has apparently caused such irreparable harm to all of us who watched it as kids, that it now needs a warning.
Sad, sad, sad!

So that is where i saw it the other day. Sitting here on the computer, TV on while the wife is dozing off and just happen to see it over the top of my glasses. Gave it the WTF thought and didn't know what it was about.
The new norm has arrived and it's being shoved down our throats appears. Seen quite a few other things i wont go into, just glad i have a choice to turn it off or not.
Yikes, what is this World coming to?
Aaaand..... you have no embarrassment (okay.... shame) of how Native Americans, B****s, Chinese, Latinos.... possibly even Swedes and the Irish (the writers ALSO wished to emulate actual history, didn't they ?....hmmm) were both portrayed or treated back then on TV or in movies ?
I certainly do.
Ain't that long ago that bigotry was kinda widely accepted.....sad scene, it was..... sadly, we're still working on it. Good luck to us.
No sir, or ma’am, or neither,
I do not. Times and standards change throughout history. What was culturally accepted and commonplace during another time, may not be the norm today. The fact that we evolve as a people is normal and expected. The attitudes and practices of today will be considered wrong 50 years from now, and so on, and so on.
My issue with this warning has nothing to do with whether or not I agree with the way things are portrayed on Bonanza. My issue is that people get offended so easily nowadays that there needs to be a warning. I get offended from time to time… bid deal. Get over it. Do we need a warning on everything that is the slightest bit controversial? So that nobody gets their feelings hurt? If so, then people need to just stay in their safe place with people who think just like them.

No embarrassment from me what so ever. If anything, it taught us what not to do today. We learn from our mistakes, move forward and help mankind learn from the past.
H*****g one's head in shame accomplishes nearly nothing, but keeping one's head up high and working together the world would be a far better place to live.

I have seen that and also that they contain smoking and drinking. A lot of what we didn’t think about is supposed to be bad influence.
why of course it is against modern cultural norms, can't have the bad guys lose or the good guys stand up to the bad guys that could really offend people these days

So what is so DIFFERENT in you getting offended or the person or people that always get offended? Sounds like your the same as the others that rightfully get offended. I don’t see any difference.

Obvious difference is what Cuondlake mentions. " He gets over it " where as those that always get offended appear to carry a grudge.

If I get offended, then I get offended. What’s the big deal? I’m offended that you think I’m offended, but I appreciate that you didn’t feel the need to warn me before I read the message.
There was a time that only the most offensive material carried warnings; mainly to warn parents that it was not suitable for children. Usually the warning was reserved for extreme violence, gore, sexuality and/or explicit language. If Bonanza needs a warning then virtually everything needs a warning. Maybe everything older than 10 years needs a warning, just in case something has changed since then. Maybe the rule should be 5 years. Or maybe everything needs a warning just in case. Then the warnings would be meaningless and we would have no way of discerning when something will offend us. What will we do then???!!! Retreat to the safe place where everyone thinks the same as us.

You were offended enough to come and whine about it here. Now PB obviously was offended once again enough to stick up for you. It’s funny he says you got over it. Well it doesn’t appear you got over it. I just simply said what’s the difference in you whining about it and being offended about a warning and the people that get offended in the first place?
Talk about hypocrisy

A lot of the warnings are apparently for people with out common sense. Like a warning that knives are sharp and can cut you, stoves can cause burns etc.

Maybe some should just not watch TV or go online. If all they are going to do is whine about it all I think they are the people with a problem including their bodyguard it appears. I have much better things to do than spend all my time worrying about things like this. Like going fishing with Fishingstage buddy’s. Have fun I wonder what the next thing to whine about will be.
