Hi ya'll. Anybody in Tampa know some productive areas to kayak fish in the immediate Tampa Bay area?
Shore fishing is going to crap... catfish and stingrays are the most caught from the shore, maaaybe an occasional Bonnet head shark.
The 3rd pileon platform under the Gandy bridge,on the Tampa side was cool; mostly Speckled Trouts, which had to be thrown back, but they were good sized. I really would like to find a good Mangrove Snapper spot to catch a few nice sized ones. I haven't had that luck, though.
I shall continue on that quest . . . Someday I'll post my PB Snapper... =)
Tight lines folks and get out there and have some fun fishin'

Well . . . I finally went out n bought my saltwater fishing license so I can get out there on my kayak to fish with peace of mind . . . =). Here in Tampa, Florida it only cost $17.00 for residents.
Now, hopefully when I get out there I catch me a big'un =) =) =) (not that having the license or not has anything to do with it...)
Wish me luck folks and keep them lines tight.

Thanks to all you guys. It is a watercraft so it can be in the boat category. I'll check with the fish and wildlife comission here.
Thanks again and keep them rods bent.

Can any of you guys here in Florida ( I live in Tampa )advise me as to wether I need to purchase the saltwater license if fishing from a kayak versus the free one for shore fishing? I want to start kayak fishing and just thought about it,because I know if you are fishing from a boat (not a fishing charter) you need to buy it, but how about kayakers???
Someone,please free me of this dilemma so I can fish stress-free . . . =)

I don't see why not.Try with uni-knots to both ends, just add 2 or 3 more turns to it than usual,on both sides.
It should hold well enough.

Lately the fish aren't biting at all from the shore, bridges or beaches . . . I tried live shrimp, pin fish, cut bait, lures of all types and NADA . . . Anybody have an idea of what's going on or is it just me?!? I mean like during in-coming tide, out-going tide...I even tried slack tides ha ha ha and nothing.
I think I'm going to have to get a kayak or small boat...
