Can any of you guys here in Florida ( I live in Tampa )advise me as to wether I need to purchase the saltwater license if fishing from a kayak versus the free one for shore fishing? I want to start kayak fishing and just thought about it,because I know if you are fishing from a boat (not a fishing charter) you need to buy it, but how about kayakers???
Someone,please free me of this dilemma so I can fish stress-free . . . =)
I'm in California so I don't know Florida regs, but surely Florida has a department of fish and game where the rules are posted online? The one out here has FAQ's and allows you to ask questions that they will get back to us on.

You might not call your kayak a boat but it is so fishing license you must have.

The site is myfwc.com for Florida state fishing
Thanks to all you guys. It is a watercraft so it can be in the boat category. I'll check with the fish and wildlife comission here.
Thanks again and keep them rods bent.
Well . . . I finally went out n bought my saltwater fishing license so I can get out there on my kayak to fish with peace of mind . . . =). Here in Tampa, Florida it only cost $17.00 for residents.
Now, hopefully when I get out there I catch me a big'un =) =) =) (not that having the license or not has anything to do with it...)
Wish me luck folks and keep them lines tight.
Might add if you're over 65 you do not need a license providing you're a state resident...
I still have 1 year and 1 month to go . . . Oh well, next year is the kicker LOL
