I went to the dollar store and got several sparkling colors, as well as black, white, red, yellow and orange, to touch up some old spinners and now I am hooked on "customized" lures. It's gotten to be that I see "improvements" that could be easily made to quite a few of my lures. Wipe clean with alcohol and put a sparkly red streak down its belly or give the eyes a new look. I have even been toying with the idea of making a "lipped crankbait" out of a "Whopper plopper" or even drilling holes in one to make a scent chamber, weight the bottom (more than presently) for maintaining the correct orientation and creating a trolling jig out of Whopper plopper. I have "enhanced" quite a few lures with both paint and the addition of yarn tied to hooks, for visual attraction and scent dispersal..... crankbaits, spoons, spinners,.... the "leadheads" of jigs get painted and suddenly get slammed.
Cheap, practical, and fun entertainment during the "home-stay"... Give it a try.

PS.... Harbor Freight makes a killer little "vise" that has two articulated alligator clips, absolutely the perfect accessory for painting.

FixorFish would you be taking about one of these? I actually bought mine many years ago at Radio Shack, it's sold as a soldering aid to hold 2 wires or components together while soldering. Works great for both uses.

there are sooooo many colors, weights and choices and prices of every bait. I may never get any picked out to use before I lose my want to. I'm not good at making choices, thus bass fishing may not be for me after all. any suggestions on how to decide? I don't have unlimited funds to just go and buy a lot of different colors of the same kind of lure or worm. I've always heard it wasn't a cheap fish to go after.

Jodie I know it sounds overwhelming but it doesn't have to be. Go to a site like Bass Pro and search Lure Kits. You can pick out a worm kit, spinner kit, crankbait kit etc with a selection of popular colors. It's cheaper than buying separate lures, and is a good way to start your collection of tackle. Then try to learn how to use each type, when and where. I'm sure you can do it without breaking the bank. Good luck and tight lines!

If u could only take one lure to fish with in the lake or river of your dreams to fish for bass, what would u take and where would u take it? Seems like a good informational question for a want-to-be bass fisherwoman from Fl. panhandle to ask, lol.

Jodie welcome to FS . When you reply to someone,if you hit "quote reply" below their post , it will show the post you are responding to. It makes it much easier to follow. My choice would be any large topwater, and to one of Ron Speeds lakes in Mexico.

It will end up in salt water hopefully this fall for Fall Chinook and Crabbing.

Well good luck with it! I have an old trihull myself, '71 Browning 17 1/2 foot. The original 135 Merc. Is pretty rotted out. Spent it's entire life in the salt. It's been sitting in my yard about 15 yrs ,I'm looking for a good motor cheap. Not so easy these days.

You may want to look into an impeller anyway. Hate to see a classic overheat. Is that on the driveshaft like a 2 stroke?

Did you watch all (3) videos? There are 2 of the Crosley Running and 1 of the Black Lab messing with the rooster in the yard yesterday. One of the videos shows the water pump indicator discharge out of the base of the intake/exhaust manifolds.

Ok,I see it,but it looks a little weak. I was looking at the rear of the motor, that's where most of them come out.

I have worn one many times, back-country skiing (in case of avalanche), but unaware of the marine version.... probably should check it out, though I don't necessarily do "big water", unless I am in a substantial boat. Thanks for the answer, Fredfish.

You're welcome, Bass Pro has them in the Saltwater catalog.

Added a video of the bulletproof thing. I’m happier with a good running boat as a Fisherman than all the Candy and eggs when I was a young little whippersnapper on Easter.

Jeremy, motor sounds good. Only thing is I didn't see any water pissing out of the tattletail. Maybe I missed it,or the Homelite is setup different? Something to look into, Just Say'en.

Watergator.... what's a ""PLB" ?

Personal Locator Beacon . It's kind of mini EPIRB that attaches to your pfd. Sends out a signal to satellites so rescue can find you.

Welcome and thanks for posting that reel. I have several of the President spinning reels, but never knew Pflueger made that one. Would strait fluorocarbon work good with the spincast reels?

I would think straight floro would be fine on spincast reels. I don't think you would want a leader knot going thru the "bail" mechanism.

From the garden of Gethsemane
where Jesus knelt to pray
to the betrayal done by Judas
on that grim and fateful day

from the mighty hands of pilate
who wished to let Him be
to the noble priests and leaders
who refused to set him free

from the crown of thorns upon his head
and lash marks from a strap
to the weight of such a heavy cross
placed there upon his back

From the thief who hung beside him
crying"Lord,remember me"
to the gentle words of Jesus
"today,you'll be with me"

From the darkness of the noon-time
as he died upon the cross
to the earth that shook and trembled
in response at such a loss

From the cheering cries of soldiers
as they took his body down
to the caring hands of Joseph
a follower new in town

From the tomb where he was laid to rest
in linen cloth of white
to the guards who had to stand close by
throughout both day and night

From the stone that blocked the entrance
as it gently rolled away
to the miracle that happened
as the guards all turned and fled
to the words that came from Angels
"HE HAS RISEN FROM THE DEAD"

From the frightened eyes of Mary
as she swiftly left that place
to the light that flowed from Jesus
when she saw him face to face

From the doubt of his disciples
when she spoke of resurrection
to the fear upon their faces
as He walked in their direction

From the written word of scripture
He fulfilled in prophecy
to the eleven who had gathered
on a hill in Galilee

From the words that had been spoken
before He went away
to His ascension into Heaven
where he lives this very day

From the bible on the mantle
to the words you need to heed
to find wisdom in its pages
and a light to sow the seed

From the death and resurrection
to the one we hold so dear
to the coming of his spirit
now that Easter time is here

From the colored eggs and candy
and an orchid trimmed in blue
to the truth found there in scripture
CHRIST JESUS DIED FOR YOU
