I went to the dollar store and got several sparkling colors, as well as black, white, red, yellow and orange, to touch up some old spinners and now I am hooked on "customized" lures. It's gotten to be that I see "improvements" that could be easily made to quite a few of my lures. Wipe clean with alcohol and put a sparkly red streak down its belly or give the eyes a new look. I have even been toying with the idea of making a "lipped crankbait" out of a "Whopper plopper" or even drilling holes in one to make a scent chamber, weight the bottom (more than presently) for maintaining the correct orientation and creating a trolling jig out of Whopper plopper. I have "enhanced" quite a few lures with both paint and the addition of yarn tied to hooks, for visual attraction and scent dispersal..... crankbaits, spoons, spinners,.... the "leadheads" of jigs get painted and suddenly get slammed.
Cheap, practical, and fun entertainment during the "home-stay"... Give it a try.
PS.... Harbor Freight makes a killer little "vise" that has two articulated alligator clips, absolutely the perfect accessory for painting.

FixorFish would you be taking about one of these? I actually bought mine many years ago at Radio Shack, it's sold as a soldering aid to hold 2 wires or components together while soldering. Works great for both uses.
