We caught them in cold water. The meat is dark (stronger flavored) from the ribcage back and white up towards the head. It's got large flakes of flesh.
I started fly fishing this summer. You can get a pretty good deal on Amazon, or you can go to Walmart and get a beginner fly outfit. Don't spend a whole bunch of money. You can get a nice outfit for under $100.00
Nice drum.. We used to catch them in The Intercoastal waterway just North of Jupiter back in the 60's..there weren't any restrictions then

I use chicken livers for catfishin', but I take an 8" piece of thread (I keep spools of it in mt tackle box) and wrap it around about 1/2 the liver shown on the hook. The
thread keeps fish from slurping the liver off the hook.
wow. It's kinda long, but worth every minute.
At our age, it takes little to spark the imagination of stunts to do!!
