Looking into getting into fly fishing, wanted to know of any good beginners gear and what all I would need to start. Any advice would be fantastic. I've looked at beginner rods and gear on Amazon, don't know if its worth using it as a beginner or spending a little extra on better equipment.

I started fly fishing this summer. You can get a pretty good deal on Amazon, or you can go to Walmart and get a beginner fly outfit. Don't spend a whole bunch of money. You can get a nice outfit for under $100.00

Why is your budget? What kind of fish and what type of water will you be targeting ? With this information we can make suggestions as to the gear and flies you will want to get you started.

Welcome to the Forum, hhh. If there is a Trout Unlimited group nearby, go to one of their meetings. They will help you out a great deal. They may have good used equipment for sale. They may give you some lessons, show you where to go and how to catch fish. They are a very good organization, in most cases. Tight Line!

You don't give a location (which you oughta do by going back in your profile and adding, thus getting more pertinent answers to your questions), so we don't know if you are going for bonefish, mountain stream trout, or steelhead hunting..... makes a humongous difference in the advice. I would highly recommend you find a fly-fishing club or good tackle shop (or just an acquaintance that can help....ask around locally, for sure you'll find a mentor.....if there's one segment of the fishing world that LOVES to share.... it's fly guys...lol !) learn the basics of casting to start, and go from there on your choice.
If you choose a set-up combo, fine....lots to be had for less than $200, even $100, that are acceptable starter rigs.
If you choose to buy components, prioritize the rod, followed by the line, then the reel...in that order, IMO. Read books, watch YouTube (some !?), make a friend.....and learn to mend !
Good luck, it's a stellar way to bring home dinner, whatever your quarry !

Before you buy your outfit determine your target fish-panfish, trout consider a 5 wt; largemouth bass, smallmouth bass consider a 6 or 7 wt; master-angler bass, northern pike then a heavier rod that can handle large flies and wind consider 8 or 9 wt; ocean fishing 9wt or a 10wt. I hope that helps plus consider Dave Whitlock’s LLBean Fly Fishing Handbook. It’s all there!
