I READ THAT YEARS AGO. CANT REMEMBER WHAT NEWS PAPER HUMOR WRITER DID IT BUT I THOUGHT IT VERY BEST AND VERY FUNNY. WAS IT DAVE BERRY?
I have been to the Amazon basin twice. Both in the 90s There is no other types of fishing, in my opinion, that compared. The first trip my best was a 13.10 lb and the second was a 22,5. the first on a woodchopper the second on a 3/4 oz red spinner bate. both are on my wall to keep me fired up about peacoc bass. one day my fishing partner caught a 24.12 lb and i had to hold him by the belt or he would have gone over the side of the boat. If i had the know how i would pit pics of them both on this site. Big beautiful beasts.
Leon was a master word smith. loved his stories. i did not now o his passing. When?

ROBERT HERE IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT TAKE ON THE IRON BALLS AND THE BRASS MONKEY. THIS IS NOT SAYING YOUR STORY IS NOT TRUE.
DIFFERENT METALS CONTRACT AND EXSPAND DIFFERENTLY AS TEMPERATURE CHANGES, BRASS EXPANDS AND CONTRACTS MORE THAN IRON DOES. THE CANNON BALLS { MADE OF IRON} WERE STACKED LIKE A PYRAMID INSIDE THE MONKEY. THE BRASS MONKEY WOULD CONTRACT , IN COLD WEATHER. FASTER THAN THE IRON CANNONS BALLS MAKING THE BALLS TO FALL OFF THE BRASS MONKEY.
I DO NOT CHARGE FOR SCIENCE TIPS.
I AM NOT FOR SURE BUT I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY PUBLICITY ABOUT IT IN A VERY LONG WHILE. AT ONE TIME THERE WERE SEVERAL HOUSES ON STILTS THAT GOT BLOWN AWAY. I WOULD GO BACK IN A MINUTE IF IT WERE OFFERED.
i have been there two times. once by house boat and once by air. stayed 3 full days each TIME. best salt water fisning i have ever done in my 70 odd years of salt water fishing. I do believe the hurricanes have put an end to most of that..
