For the money you won’t be disappointed with the Rapala
Mine are 40 years old
I’ll hone them every time I use them
I fillet approximately 250 fish per year
Although I do use a heavier serrated knife for the whoppers
LingCod is a salt water fish.
But we call these guys Lawyers
I’ve caught many and they are great eating if you can get past the ugly
I recently heard that they drastically reduced the bag limits out there
Anyone know for sure?
They sell those up here for $5.00 each in the tropical fish stores!
I want some!
Find the rechargeable drill with the highest torque ratings too.
Milwaukee’s by the way are not up there.
For the money, entertain a Masterforce. (Made by Motabo and from Menards)
Fabulous drill for the money. I bought that for the ice drill last year but found it out performed anything out there last summer when we also built a big deck.
Problem with the propane’s are that they generate moisture in the oil so after every few tanks of fuel you need to change the oil.!
They don’t tell you that. This is from first hand experience. Those motors don’t last.
I still have my 2 stroke smoke jiffy. Pain in the ass yes but once it’s tuned in for the season it is going to cut a lot of holes. I cut average of 50 holes per week and this current auger is at least 20 years old. My first one wore out at 20 years or so. 8” is all you need especially if you cut a lot of holes.
however,,,, my favorite auger is a 6” hand auger Strike Master which I’ve removed the hand crank and adapted the auger to a 20 volt lithium drill.
I use this for early ice up to a foot or so thick.
If ounces through 8” quietly in seconds!
Good luck
From someone who has had them all,,,,,,Go with a battery powered auger!
Go with an underwater camera in lieu of a flasher. They are so much more fun
Amazon ain’t the cheapest that’s for sure
Convenient only
I’ve had good luck with ProBass online

What thickness of ice is safe to drive a light truck on?
Depends on ice quality too!
8” of Hard clear ice will support a 5000 lb truck
Obviously 12” is better
Soft ice that has been exposed to warm weather and moisture...... forget it!
Ice fishing for 60 years now in Wisconsin
A few nervous calls but kept everyone dry
I’ll walk on 3” and drive my ATV or snowmobile on 4”
Going out today
We have 4” in the bays
In Wisconsin we call those Lawyers or Eel Pout. A member of the cod fish if I recall.
They are very good eating with a firm white meat but a bit challenging to clean.
Good thing our thumbs don’t shrink when we get cold !
What exactly is a NedRig?
The video shows a guy with a jig
No details on rigging it
