I’ve been on here a little while but haven’t seen anyone posting about fishing kiptopeke or Cape Charles.
Any ideas.?
Could be the pitch of the prop
Welcome!
Cape May area will provide many productive areas to fish.
Fortescue, reeds beach, the sunken ship near cape May point all great places
We will never forget those who lost their lives that day
I think this is a great forum and I’m glad the administration has plans to split things up for fresh and saltwater
Keep up the good work!
Non ethanol gas, STABIL and disconnecting the fuel line and letting
the engine run out of gas are all good ideas if you want your engine to start next time
Let us know what you decide on
I fish Chesapeake near cape Charles. I found pretty good success using a bucktail jig with gulp swimming minnow in chartreuse or white. Jigged along bottom usually gets a flounder.
Check out YouTube John skinner fluke for some good info. Good luck
I bought a Suzuki for a small aluminum boat . 4 stroke . Dealer said that it was the best choice if not used regularly cause the others have carbs and if not used regularly the carbs gunk up.
In my experience it usually takes a few days to get back to normal
Good luck!
Went fishing last nite at the pier in Cape Charles Virginia
Lots of folks fishing , most were catching ribbon fish on silver spoons or bait.
I was told they are a real delicacy in the Korean community but that they have a lot of bones.
Not much else biting when I was there.
I found that gulp swimming minnows any color worked well also and that these fish have big teeth!
It has certainly happened to me. Bought a brand new Parker 21 and as it was going off the trailer at the ramp I wondered why the bilge pump was already pumping. No damage just a little embarrassing.
I have a 14 ft Jon boat with 4hp suzuki
It will get me and my 200 lb fish buddy plus troll motor and tackle most places in a reasonable amount of time
I’ve fished wildwood for many years . I’ve found the area south of the grassy sound bridge along the marsh banks to be productive for flounder near high tide.
Another productive spot is the channel by cold springs by the bridge from wildwood crest to cape May nj
Gulp, swimming minnow white or chartreuse always worked for me
Good luck and let us know how you do. Fishing reports are always welcome
Having fished saltwater from both Jon boat and kayak I’d go with the Jon boat.
Although it takes a little longer to trailer etc I like the idea of being able to stretch and even stand up to stretch my legs during a long day on the water. I power my Jon boat with a small trolling motor without issues. Just my 2 cents .
I’ve caught flounder from and using a lightweight bucktail tipped with gulp baits in white or chartreuse.
I find it more convenient than livebait cause I can always fish without looking for a bait shop.
Good luck and keep us posted!
