I went to marine fishing. I think the fish are healthier for the most part. I find there are a great deal more varieties to target. That keeps me looking, learning and pursuing from a wider selection. You know what they say about variety!
This is the best approach, although when bottom fishing in the salt water with heavy braided line, such as for halibut, you may end up working quite a while longer, or possibly just cutting as far out as you can by getting right over the top of the snag. Of course working different angles to free your line would be the first order of business, especially when out on a boat.
That's great fishing where you are. Anybody care to cover the same topic for Pacific Northwest?
Also, how do you know if it is leader weight versus leader length, type of lure, technique being used...
Nice, but very little application for my ventures.
Thank you
Thank you for that presentation. Several points that you may want to address in a follow up edition might include a couple of comments on time of moon rise/moon set, how certain lines may be more visible in moon light, and how do ultraviolet lures vs florescent lures work at night? Just some thoughts to consider.
Sincerely,
Jim
I understand you are looking for a supply of pigskin. #1 I would Google pig farmers in my area. #2 you may get more help if you share a suggestion or two that have worked in your situation(s). Grocery stores with a butcher shop in them may be another possibility.
Glad you were able to work through your disappointment. Good overview.
Thank you
I guess it depends on where you're looking from. I live on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington state. So from here, it seems like the North Pacific (and Straits of Juan de Fuca/Puget Sound). But many of my Canadian friends refer to this area as the South Pacific. Either way, I love it here, there is so much to see and do if you like the outdoors, i.e. winter black mouth (immature Chinook salmon) fishing with the snow piling up on the bow of your boat, to halibut/Lingcod, crab, shrimp, and so much more.
My greatest challenge is getting the old guys I go out with healthy and free their schedules enough to go out since I need someone to pull my boat. My truck went belly up several years ago, and I haven't been able to replace as yet. So if you have such a vehicle and need a boat to get out on, message me and we'll see if we can work something out!
Sincerely,
