Why should you get off easy? You need 80 tons of lures to figure out its whatever works that day.

Okay thanks for the advice, the 7’ rod was where I was leaning because my baitcaster is that length and I’m comfortable with that. I was thinking of a 3000 sized reel but I’ll check out the 2000 and compare.

I’m new to Bass fishing, old and have no illusions of ever being a pro, I just want to fish. I started this year with a good baitcaster set-up that falls into the all- around category ( 7’ m/h fast action). I see a need for a spinning outfit to deal with the lighter end of the lure spectrum and finesse work. What should I be looking at as far as the same all-around set-up in a spinning outfit? Rod length, power, reel size........

A baitcaster is the one where you push a button, cast, and line comes out.

I learned how to fish on a baitcaster and in my opinion it’s much easier to learn than a spinner. However, it’s really up to you. I have one of each, use them both.

I think you’re thinking of a spincaster.

Once you learn baitcasting you’ll love it. Worth the time and effort to learn, (It isn’t that difficult really)

I love using a baitcaster and I’ve only started this spring, it’s spinning reels I don’t like at all. I much prefer a spincaster to a spinning reel but baitcasting is my favorite. I find that the lighter the lure the more break is required, the spool tension is set to just drop each bait as needed. The thumb is the real trick to successfully using this tool.
