Looking for new or used crossbow. Like the center point cp400 at 556.00$ and Excalibur’s micro 335 @640.00$. Anybody into crossbow hunting?

Looks nice did you shoot it yet. Still got tags on it so I guess not. I am nervous about sighting it in. Hopefully I don’t hit my friends boat like I did ten years ago. Just a hole in his cover lol

It shoots really hard and very accurate from 20 to 40 steps it only drops around 2” You better have a good crossbow target to stop the bolts a regular target it will shoot right through it and by by fleshing

I have a blaze inferno, 320 fps, hit a deer at 25 yds last season and that's fast enough. As for sighting in and practice you'll need a good target as even mine has big impact, went right through my shooter buck and lodged in the fence pailing

I have only killed deer with a recurved bow. i had to aim low, where the deer would be when the arrow arrived rather than at the spot. Do the cross bows shoot fast enough to aim for the actual spot or do you have to anticipate the deer's crouching to jump? Just Sayin..RJS

When I fired last season, at just over 25 yards, that's what I set my sights at in my yard at home, I aimed right behind the front leg half way up the body and that's where it hit. The deer ran off and 30 minutes later found it expired about 100 yards away. The arrow is quick enough at that range that before they react it hits the target area.

Yes, on
My recurve I had to aim about 3 inches lower because the deer had already begun to react to my bowstring!Just Sayin...RJS

Well, good luck and post some pictures. I don't know what the rules are in Texas for Crossbows, I guess we have a season. I no longer hunt because I've gotten too old to get out and do anything much, with 2 knee replacements/ Just Sayin...RJS

Most states are ok with crossbows, a few wont let archers use them. My first one was a cheap Barnett from Walmart and the second year I had a shot at 15 yards, when I found the arrow the next day it was 20 yards past where it hit the deer. Last year my shot hit where I aimed and still haven't found my arrow. I've been using mechanical broadheads, they have a bit less wind resistance. Looking forward to next months opening.

I bought a wicked ridge invader 400 made by TenPoint 4-5 weeks ago. It has an awesome scope on it and shoots 400 foot per second. It’s sighted in at 20-50 yards. Will be using TenPoint carbon bolts tipped with rage hypodermic tarpan 100 grain broadheads and lighted knocks. Can’t wait to take it hunting!

I shoot a 60lb compound Darton bow. It spits arrows out at just over 300fps. Being a lot more quiet than most, if not all crossbows, the deer never move from the sound. One thing that most salesman will not tell you, is about your string. The center serving, running on the rail, no matter how much junk you put on it, will come apart. When that happens, you either buy another string, or reserve. Most of the guys want you to come back so they serve the serving on, one way, then back the other. Tell them you want two serving. One, lets say is 8", close that one off, then run another and inch longer on both ends. The reason is if ever the serving, and it will, come apart, just take the top layer off, and continue to hunt.

I use to shoot a youth model PSE set at 45 pounds, shooting around 285 FPS. It was really quiet too. Every deer I (7) shot was a complete pass through. The closest was only 5 yards and the furthest was 25 yards. I also shoot a 25-06 Ruger M77 during rifle season, closest was 25 foot neck shot, the furthest was 25 yards. I am really looking forward to bow season and if I’m lucky I won’t need to get that rifle out of the gun safe.
