Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I've got two reels that need new line so I'll put Suffix on one, and the V2 super slick on the on the other. Will let you all know how they work out. Thanks again everyone.

Have been using Spider-wire for many years, but I'm not happy with it casting range. Any suggestions on what might be a better choice for 8 to 10 pound braid for my spinning reels?

Hello, I am Jay, and I live in Lacombe, Louisiana. Would love to become a better fisherman in the area. I recently moved to this state from Olympia Washington. I served in the US Army for 28 years and have fished all over the world.

I would like to attempt to catch speckled trout, red drum, flounder, and sheepshead. I mostly fish from a boat.
Be safe, have fun, and keep your line tight!

Welcombe Jay to Lacombe. I'm been living off and on in Lacombe area since 2005. I have fish everything from the South of the Rigolets to Toledo Bend for Bass, Specks, Reds, and Flounders. Check out my posts. Line is tight, and net is ready!

White trout are in the same family as a speckled trout. Not a biologist but that would be my guess. Real good eating!

Got a chance to go out last night to fish under the lights. Caught 40 to 50 small white trout, but only keep about 20 or so for dinner. Also caught a nice 19 inch speck. Grandson hook up with a nice red, but his knot untied, lesson learned.

Been using swivels for the past 20 years or so,and never had a problem. I fish mostly for reds, specks, and flounders, but have hooked up with 40+ drums, and sharks. In fact my 11.6 pound large mouth bass was caught with a swivel on the worm.

Got an early start Friday morning. Fished Katrina reef, and Fort Bayou most of the morning with nothing to show for it. We where at the mouth of Fort Bayou, when we saw the water bust out with Pogies as far as the eye could see. I'm talking from Ocean Springs/Biloxi Bridge to past the tip of Deer Island. We move up to them and started throwing lures and live shrimp, hopping Reds were chasing the Pogies. As soon as our lures hit the water, we were hooked up. But to my utter disappointment we started pulling in Gafftops catfish. Every throw was another Gafftop, after 10 minutes I put my pole down. My two Grandsons were having the time of their life. They love eating them so we brought home over 35 of them. I did catch a flounder to save my day though.

Was out last night looking for Speckle Trout under the lights at the train bridge, and the Hwy 90 Ocean Springs/Biloxi bridge. We caught about 30 to 40 White Trout. Got tired of them and went looking for Specks, caught a 37 inch Red on 10 pound monofilament line, it was a great fight, and he nearly spooled me twice. Also add a very nice Flounder to the live well. But still no keeper Specks.

Was behind the Hard Rock Casino and the rock jetty. I caught 10 Flounders, and saw other boaters hauling in Flounder left and right. I also caught over 12 Specks, but no keepers.

Fished behind the casinos near the rock jetty for about 6 hours. Caught 10 flounders, only 3 were keepers. Five specks, all undersized, a couple of croakers which made great bait. Anybody know were the large speck are?

Thanks for all the replys. I'm will mostly be fishing in backbay bayous areas, in usually less that 10 feet of water. I'm also curious what kind of lures, spinner or crank baits. Don't think I'll need any downriggers, haven't seen any one else use them in this area. Thanks again for all your help, and keep a tight line.

Looking for any help I can get on trolling for Speckle Trout. Been fishing for the last 50 years, but never tried trolling. Lots of experience on offshore fishing, bayou fishing, and Bass fishing. So trying something new, all and any help will be greatly appreciated.
