Got an early start Friday morning. Fished Katrina reef, and Fort Bayou most of the morning with nothing to show for it. We where at the mouth of Fort Bayou, when we saw the water bust out with Pogies as far as the eye could see. I'm talking from Ocean Springs/Biloxi Bridge to past the tip of Deer Island. We move up to them and started throwing lures and live shrimp, hopping Reds were chasing the Pogies. As soon as our lures hit the water, we were hooked up. But to my utter disappointment we started pulling in Gafftops catfish. Every throw was another Gafftop, after 10 minutes I put my pole down. My two Grandsons were having the time of their life. They love eating them so we brought home over 35 of them. I did catch a flounder to save my day though.

I'd like to learn about handling, cleaning, fileting, cooking sail cats. Flyrod 1000@gmail.com
Before you start filleting them, spray them off with your water hose and it will wash all of the slime off, something about the fresh water completely cleans it off, then fillet them just like a river catfish.
Looking forward to trying. Thanks
