Swivel Connectors... or Not? A survey.
I assume that the purists will say that it is a Cardinal Sin to connect a lure, using a Swivel Connector.
I have to admit, that I feel a bit guilty when I get lazy, and quit tying lures directly to my line, and then just go with a swivel (I look around first, to make sure that no "real fishermen" are in the area to see this faux pas.)
So... I want honest answers here:
Do you ever use swivels or quick connectors?
Will I get kicked out of this group, just for posing the question? π³π

As posted earlier, snapswivels are made for lures that spin, and will twist your line.
Snaps and quick connectors are made to allow rapid lure changes. I see no problem using either, in their proper places.
I'm a fan of Duo Lock snaps and use them 99% of the time..
No one here is in the position to judge another's preference. Use whatever you like, and enjoy yourself. ππ»
One of the reasons I even asked, is because my fingers don't always do what I want them to do, the older I get.

I always have a swivel. No mater what I am using for lures I want swivels. Buddies donβt but I do. Snap swivels are cool but I been using a corkscrew thing with a swivel built in. No snap that a fish can bend straight.

I agree with all you said I to use both but for casting also use a small duolock type snap if trolling I use high quality bearing type swivels. getting older and harder to tie knots so like to tie as few as possible. but what ever works best for you use.

Jeremy that is good to know i have thought about using them but didn't know how they would hold up but since I think we fish for the same sort of fish in the same sort of waters if they work for you I might give them a try

Gene I've been using Norman speed clips for over 20 yrs.
Never had a failure.
I'll use a duro lock if eye is too small or too think for speed clip.

I use quick connectors and have never had any issues catching fish.. fresh or salt water. The quick connector not only saves time changing lures out and saves leader also but the lure does swing freely similar to a loop knot. I do not like the swivels as they tend to kill the action of the lure unless I am fishing spoons. Hey whatever works for you!

You got it. I use to fish alot of tubes with external jig heads.
I'd rig several colors n speed clips allowed me to change in seconds π
I use them quite a bit, but not always. If the lure works as it should, all is good. If a connector makes your lure go all wonky, you may want to try a different method of connection.
My thoughts in life are to be who you want to be. So, I say use what you want. Be you, but be open to suggestions or new ideas.

I feel the same way if it works for you do it.
