Get the kid a bug net and let him catch his own grasshoppers OR buy some red wiggles other options include stop at a pet store for wax worms, meal worms or crickets.

To me it means, no trespassing, no fishing, no hunting, no swimming.... private property keep out.
Back in about 73 we went to what is now Colorado Bend State Park for spring break (so around Easter). We fished from tubes and caught around 50 per day with hair jigs.
The S Park is at Bend Tx above Buchanan Lake
