Down here they use bull lips on trotlines and in crab pots. The one crabber told me that used to use tongues until they got popular in restaurants. I ain't eating either of my own free will and as long as there are other prey items out there.

If the weather doesn't get stupid on Sunday, we might try again for White perch. Tomorrow is Tog fishing, only have 2 more weeks of that fishery then we'll be in full on White perch for the summer mode.

Andy the fish whisperer.

You have NO IDEA. I fished right next to him and I didn't catch a damn thing. Andy's good people. M and I have been hitting OC for Tog Andy, we'll catch up with you at the marina when we start fishing for perch.

We're a Yamaha house and I'm looking into Tohatsu for a project I've been working on. I don't hear anything bad about them, but their dealer network is sparse which worries me a little.

Good catch UncleRob, are you cutting the urchins in halves most of the time? I've fished with everything else you mention except urchins.

After you cut off the spines we just cut a hole in them. I used a 2 hook SNAFU rig and put one hook one way and the other the other way through the soft bottom. And you'd think that smaller urchins would have been better, but the bigger urchins were better.

Pictures from your trip go in main.
You don't have to add it Duck. If NC is your location, it goes there automatically. The rest of the country sees it in the main section.

I put it in the location specific with the location and it gets kicked to the main which breaks the link I save which pisses me off to no end. Like I said, never saw a forum like this one and they way it does that is terrible.

Nice boat Clappy. My wife is the one that suggested getting a boat. My knees were getting bad, my shoulder is shot and hauling the Big Fish kayaks onto the trailer was getting harder and harder. We've been looking for a 19' tin boat to go out into bigger water.

You should have shown the teeth on the Toad Fish. LOL They are as bad as Blue Fish, IMO.
I heard that they were also called "Poor Man's Lobster". Don't know as I never had one big enough to clean or cook.

Even with the 3 big ones we caught, there's not a whole hell of a lot of meat on them. They're very good and easy to clean. Those 3 will make 1/2 a meal for M and I, we'll supplement it with some frozen White perch from last year.

Figure I'll post it in the main since that's where ALL of my threads get moved to. If this one moves I'm done because I don't want to be that guy posting in the wrong forum. Been a moderator and admin on dozens of sites, but this one takes the cake.

Fished with urchins, clam, mussel, shrimp and sandfleas, urchins were what the Sheepshead were after. Got 9, 3 were tagged and released, 2 were shorts and 1 was 22". One of my friends just started doing research on Sheepshead. Also got 3 giant Oyster toads from 13-15". Not much meat on toadfish, but they're pretty tasty.

We have a Bubba and it's been cleaning White perch, Striped carp, Sheepshead and Tog for the last 4 years and it's still ticking. Probably cleaned 1000+ fish with it and it has its place. For perch, I fillet the whole fish, M cuts out the ribs. On larger fish, I use a fillet knife, then cut the ribs with Bubba.

jerseyboy, You grew up a great way. Nice post. Thanks! PS. Kids don't take up fishing like they use to. We were river brats when we were kids.

If there was a puddle when I was a kid, I was in it. OK, I'm still like that, lol. Hey, there might be bat in that puddle.

Anyhoo, they're knocking the hell out of blues from NY to NC. We saw 2 checked in while we were down there this week that were 24" and bigger. Watched a school of choppers tearing up Smelt right next to the boat.

OH YES! Got skunked yesterday and today. Maybe tomorrow!

The White perch are just a week or 2 away from moving into their haunts fully for the summer Andy. We got 8 nice spawned out females on The Little Choptank Friday. I think those fish don't move too far to spawn and move into their summer areas.

I don't think there are any here in Harford county anymore due to fishing slobs ruining it for everyone, development or gates being left open. I've lived here most of my life and never fished any ponds other than my own. You could try Harford Glen.

That roller net is cool UncleRob!

That's my small net, I have another that's 4ft wide we use on the boat. My wife pilots, I drag the grass beds. I built that one this winter with larger mesh off plans I got from a waterman on Smith Island.

Nope, soft crabs are nothing more bait to us. Neither of us will eat them and this time of year they're a great White perch bait where we fish. Since the 3 people that used to eat them have passed they're bait now unless we run into Andy and we hae some. I have a place that I can run my roller net and get 6 or so each full moon cycle.
