4/25/24 The bluefish are on vacation in Venice FL. Don has been catching a lot of nice size beach blues.

They are fishy and oily tasting. It's not bad uf you like it but it's not my first choice. The small ones, maybeup to 16 inches or so aren't bad. The ones around a foot are actually tasty, they just haven't built up the fat yet.

Loc: maryland eastern shore delmarva
grew up catching them on the jersey shore {toms river and barnegate bay} growing up.....island heights was always great for blue crab in the summer (chicken necking.....so cool.. and ..what...i was a local...and the cops left me alone as they checked for permit badges..)...caught many blues (snappers)..ate some, but just didn't enjoy...maybe that blood line...anyway....kept most for crab or cut bait or gave them to grampa.... who lived up the street....a ww1 marine who i would walk with to monahans liquer store so he would get his three packs of tipotilos (sp) cigars and me......a free pretzel stick...oh...and slammed the flounder in late winter............thanks

Actually, they are excellent on the BBQ or smoked. Most folks who have them that way, enjoy the meal. We like fish that taste like fish so we like them anyway prepared.

I do the same thing then throw the fish away and eat the cedar plank
