That's a good day of catching.

I fish pine Island sound and the trout are full of worms. I pick the ones I see out and eat the ones I don’t. There’s an old belief that only the trout with one tooth have worms. I can’t tell you that is not the case.
Most of my fishing is in the Fort Myers area. Fishing has been tough. Been taking the boat out north of the causeway islands. Water is quit dirty. But at least there's no red tide lately.
Just went there the other night for dinner. Lots of people fishing the pier. I didn’t go out on the pier, so I don’t know how the fishing is there. I did go to the jetties and fish for a little bit throwing a spoon and had a couple bites. Good luck if you go and let us know how you make out.
Nice catching. Been a while since I've been able to get out.

It's only illegal to remove 40" plus tarpon from the water. Which by the looks of it the tarpon is well under the 40" inch mark.
"Tarpon Handling Guidelines
Know tarpon regulations: Tarpon over 40 inches MUST remain in the water unless a tag is used. Keep tarpon, especially the gills, in as much water as is safely possible. Tarpon tags may only be used to harvest potential state record or IGFA record-sized tarpon."

It's about survival rates.
Jacks link is an excellent source. Other than that get to the beaches early and fish the beaches till the crowds so up.
The fish your buddy caught is a trumpet fish. I believe. Hope he's doing well.
Can't go wrong with a trolling a silver or gold spoon. Nice jack.

Welcome to the stage SnookDr. The Snook is one of my bucket list fish. Lots of Floridians here. Good Luck and Tight Lines.
If you get down around Sanibel island, visit blind pass. The last park on the Sanibel side before going over to Captive. Toss a silver or gold spoon parallel with the beach in the trough. You'll catch more snook then those on the bridge. However bigger snook are caught on the bridge.
I hear three are a lot of peacock in the freshwater canals around the Naples area in Florida. When I get a chance to get there I'll post pics of I catch any
Get as close as you dare to the mangrove coastlines. I like to troll or push pole very slow. Try getting as high up as you can get (stand on a cooler) to see farther a head. Overall 3 to 5 feet of water between the mangrove coastline and a grassy bottom should produce some reds for you.
Hello all.
I'm new to the forum. Been reading it for a while. This forum has some amazing members. I'm hoping to learn a few things and help when I can. I've been fishing the salt of swfl for 20+ years. I'm thinking this year I may try to fish a bit of freshwater. Originally from upstate New York from a town where the cows out number the people.
