Hello all.

I'm new to the forum. Been reading it for a while. This forum has some amazing members. I'm hoping to learn a few things and help when I can. I've been fishing the salt of swfl for 20+ years. I'm thinking this year I may try to fish a bit of freshwater. Originally from upstate New York from a town where the cows out number the people.

Welcome to the forum SnookDr! Know what you mean about the cows--lived just over the border in VT for a spell and same story there! The cheese selection was out of this world though! I'm sure you've been enjoying immensely the fishing in FL, between red tides, of course! Re freshwater, I hear peacock bass really put up a heckuva fight--they're on my bucket list!

I hear three are a lot of peacock in the freshwater canals around the Naples area in Florida. When I get a chance to get there I'll post pics of I catch any

If you get down around Sanibel island, visit blind pass. The last park on the Sanibel side before going over to Captive. Toss a silver or gold spoon parallel with the beach in the trough. You'll catch more snook then those on the bridge. However bigger snook are caught on the bridge.

SnookDr - that's really good to know; thanks for the tip! One of my sisters and her family are in Naples, but everytime I've been down there I've been preoccupied with family related business, the latest of which was attending to my dad who was in assisted care in Naples as well. I've only fished once down there and it was near Gordon's Pass inlet a couple years ago with my BIL. Didn't catch anything though and didn't know about the canals. Looking forward to your future postings!
