You are in the heart of good fishing
One fishery I wanted to try sometime is the banks of the lower Yakima in early May.
I’ve heard over the years the bass stack up near the mouth waiting for the fresh smolt releases that the tribe handles.
A jig under a bobber near the bottom works on a lot of the Col River.
Neat-
My dad had two and I have one left-
A half crank backwards ( opens the Bail)
Cool oldtimers-
Wish I could have found his old worsens belly reel before it dissapeared-
I’ve eaten Washington state rattler and all there is on a 3 ft local snake was some nibbling along the backbone like a chicken back.
Bbq d them, were not bad-
Wa st has a tough time growing large bass.
5 lb plus small mouths on the Columbia possible.
Try the mouth of the yak in May as the salmon smolt the tribe releases has made a buffet for those invasive buggers.
Potholes reservoir has some large mouth that go over 5 lbs at times.
Good luck and remember on the Columbia there is no limit so kill em all- save our salmon and steelhead!
Re:,the yakima river, the mouth and lower river is a hot smallmouth bite as the smolt head down in early May.
Shiner imitations should get you bit.
Kill as many s. Mouth as poss to save our salmon/steelhead runs(no limit on smallmouth and walleyes)
I heard that a couple of ponds up the Tucannen were stocked not to long ago- they are bank fished.
No report tho-
One more safety statement
That reservoir has big waves so respect it.
Over the years I’ve seen swamped boats and found dead fishermen.
True fish producing lake for many years but if windy, many small seep lakes below the dam to wet a line- some w launches also-
Rip Lip!
I knew a old timer who would take his carp and cats from muddy waters and let them flush out in a tub of fresh water for a couple of days before dispatching them and cleaned them up!
The carp he fed me was ok as well-

Good run, many bad quality fish caught as spawning.
Best to head down river so their fresh and edible and on their way there.
Fall chinook are pulsing up the Col now
S/b in the cowlitz niw
Coho soon at mouth of klickitat river.
Fall chinook taking off soon also thru Col. River up to priest rapids dam.
Practice up in lower river as priest is a wild river stretch and rocky and swift and kamakazi boaters. Unimproved launch in rocks.
Fall salmon and coho on Col now-
Cohos best klickitat down river on Col.
Walleye are scattered-
Fall chin. good up to Hanford soon.
The lower in the river they are caught the brighter they are

Buy for the future is best.
I run a 24 v ulterra and love it ( fresh water)
The boat came w a lowr. Hds gen 3.
Needed a bow unit for walleye.
24 v works great and can head up River in the Col for snags w it.
You can use a Minkota and hook it up w 2d sonar to a lowrance but I’m in a pickle if I want a hummingbird elite fa for the live or charting functionability.
