Welcome, dale, to the Stage.
If you are up for a drive, the Palouse Mouth has outstanding shore fishing areas for both cats and salmon. My son in law clips and tags salmon there. He said it is specifically set up for bank fishing. Good Luck
I have found that an effective way to check out new bank areas is to just go for a Saturday drive. Saturday is usually the busiest. Stop when you see a fisherman or fisher kid. Kids seem to know bank fishing better than adults. Be friendly and ask questions. Most people want to help or at least show off their catch. Note: leave your fishing rod at home. Good luck
Hello
one place to look is along HWY 14 in the Patterson area there are many spots along the Columbia River easy to walk to there are islands and inlets use Google Earth for mapping and roads shore fish using an inflatable canoe or shore fishing is good. In the past be mindful of ticks and snakes not a big issue but they might be there.
This is for Bass usually. in the past i have used worms successfully hope it helps
You are in the heart of good fishing
One fishery I wanted to try sometime is the banks of the lower Yakima in early May.
I’ve heard over the years the bass stack up near the mouth waiting for the fresh smolt releases that the tribe handles.
A jig under a bobber near the bottom works on a lot of the Col River.
