If you are fine with 10# mono for all your fishing, stick with that. Braid is good to replace heavier lines. It can tangle easier; requires its own knots; requires leader and costs more. If you need 20-30# or more, follow the braid suggestions. You won’t see much cast difference from 10# mono, especially after adding the leader knot. And braid line handling is more work. Line stretch is a noticeable benefit when fishing 200-400” for halibut.

If I read you right, you’re saying all these warnings are unnecessary because you’ve eaten contaminated fish all your life and all you got was cancer?

I agree. Only rumors?? If there were, the water is too cold for any bite.

Excessive warning emails on this site are a waste of your time. Remember. Three sentences to the Senators’ offices. Then send.

Look for them in shallow water near shore. Large loud spinnerbaits. Across the lake east of the state park has good habitat.

Send emails to Senator Murray’s and Cantwells offices about the violations. KEEP EACH EMAIL TO 3 SENTENCES! If you write 5 sentences, take 2 out before sending.

You have your fish answers so I’m now responding to your otters question. They are fun to watch but despite their name, they spend much of their time in the woods. And are attracted by fish. They look for safe places to den as well. So they will be at your house.

Be sure there is NO access under your house, garage, shed etc. Keep everything sealed. Throw cleaned fish waste into the river - not your garbage cans. The smell of river otter excrement from an otter den will literally drive you out of your home. Worth avoiding.

Yes. Take the west side road all the way to the confluence with the Grand Ronde. Steelhead in both in fall and winter. Also great smallmouth bass fishing in both; fly or spinning. Steelhead with bobber and eggs or fly jig.

Another cut area is the east side near the north end. There's a buried forest there offshore from the park that I've heard is good for cuts.

If Tribal issues at Omak are a problem, go up the road to Conconully Lake. The upper lake is good for rainbows and kokanee.

I'll be fishing Halibut in the San Juans this season and could use some suggestions on where to go. I know about Hein Bank but something less exposed might be better. Anyone out there happen to have San Juan Islands experience???

I see you already have all the info you need. I can add that the winter chum run on the Nisqually is the latest run in the Sound and has some of the largest fish. It goes into January. But the more salmon you catch, the less interested you might be to go after chum. Good fighters, but you won't be as excited about the meat. -needs a lot of help....

No, except for marine areas where it is allowed. As stated below, area 13 allows two rods. That's the only area I've seen. But I think you can use two in Canada? This is all for salmon. Not other species.

The 100 year definition relates to import duties enforced by US Customs. It doesn't relate to anything else.

As for a suggestion, if you have room, find or make a glass topped coffee table with a wood surface about 6" under the glass. Great for display and they'd be in plain sight in your best room. And you'd have a nice coffee table!

Lots of these for sale for viewing that you could use as a template to build one..

You may know this but the limit is only two; you'll need a rigged fish lowering device on board; and Puget Sound is barbless for all fishing.
In my experience they can be VERY localized, and by season, so can be hard to find.
