I taught my 3 years old grandson how to catch a fish this past weekend. I bought crickets for the occasion. Crickets have never let me down if you're fishing for bluegills. I would attach a picture if I could figure out how. I've tried following the instructions below with no luck.

I think I may need to explain myself. I was not trying to make fun of what Plumbob and Gordon said. Being kind to someone is the easiest thing to do and it will help to make that person feel better. It may even make their day. I apologize if I offended anyone.

I'm going to lake Gaston myself towards the end of April. I went there last year and caught several nice bass fishing boat docks using plastic salamanders/lizards in the pumpkin seed color. I have one picture of my Grandson and myself with a small bass he and I caught around the docks of the place where we stayed. I'll try to post it this morning. I really liked Gaston so hopefully we'll have as much luck this year and I hope you have a great time as well. Tight Lines.

Mr. Samples, surely you just dropped the line like OJ suggested and not try and cast. Did you ever try using that reel at all just to see how it worked?

Lee, as I read you post I was thinking how great that must feel. I've yet to experience that but it's only been 43 years so there's still time.

The last colonoscopy I had I showed up a day early and had already cleansed myself. Thank the Good Lord they worked me in. When they told me I was a day early all I was thinking about was going thru that mess again. That will never happen again!

I hope the lake house works out for you Ivey. I've fished Pickwick and that is some beautiful country. I've never fished Wilson lake but I'm sure it's beautiful as well. Good luck

Bapabear, you've got some great fishing buddies. There have been times after a long day on the water in warm weather I must admit I would much rather go home. But I know whichever friend has the boat would rather go home as well. But there are things that need to be done or the boat can be damaged or just can't wait. I went on a trip once that had not been a good trip. The weather turned bad unexpectedly, and dealing with rain, rough water and very little fish. We were all worn completely out. The boat owner told me and another friend to go on home and we would get back together the next day. We split the small amount of fish we had caught. We did all get back together the next day and couldn't believe the condition we had left the boat in. It was hot and steamy the next day and it took us much longer to clean everything up and have the boat ready for our friend's next trip. We've never done that since. It's not good for the boat or the folks doing the cleaning.

MAS Fish, how is that these folks know about your lakes and go fishing there? To fish at someone's private lakes and not offer something seems mighty rude. I can't think of anyone I fish with that would be so inconsiderate, but we were all raised by dads that fished and taught us fishing etiquette just as they taught us golf etiquette. Maybe you need to put up a small sign stating bags or a small monetary gift would be appreciated.

I learned how to fish on Lake Marion and Santee Cooper when my family lived in Columbia, SC. My dad was transferred to Winston-Salem, NC when I was 12. I believe these are joining bodies of water in SC. Santee Cooper was always my favorite place to fish. Unfortunately my Dad passed away when I was 16 and I haven't been back since. AAW welcome and I wish I could help. You've just got me thinking about some of the best times I had with my Dad. Thanks

I feel like if you want help with expenses, expect it, need it or whatever and don't talk about it before you begin pulling the boat or leaving for the trip then bad on you so don't get resentful. It could be that person is so excited about the trip and has had such a good time, or bad, that the thought just doesn't cross their mind.
