Love my 9.9 Yamaha long shaft electric start and power tilt. So easy to use and dependable. I use the easy steer system connecting my Yamaha 70 to the kicker.
Another "agree" from me, not using the site much anymore because of the changes. Miss the old format.
Whidbey Island at the pump house
Thanks for the info. I reef netted off lily point during the early 60,s for 6 years. There used to be a lot of crab around that area then. Back then the old cannery was still running in the Blaine harbor and mounds of oysters graced the spit. My crabbing is now down by Gedney Island. I probably will never be able to get up there by you again. Good hunting
Were you crabbing near Birch Bay?
I live just North of Lake Washington (5 min.) Just for your interest, you can take your pontoon boat down the ship canal and into Lake Union. Continuing Westward, you can motor to the Ballard Locks and end up in Puget Sound. You end up near Shilshole Marina and boat launch near where salmon can be caught. The salmon migrate up the ship canal via a fish ladder at the locks and cross Lake Union into Lake Washing on the way to their spawning grounds reversing the aforementioned trip, thus salmon in Lake Washington. You will have so much fun here!
This is not a Pink Year. The WDFW site is a good place to check what others are catching in Puget Sound. So far the season is slow in the straits so not much of anything down by Whidbey yet.
Talking to Don who started this blog. I will share launch sites if he has a boat.
If you pick up oysters, be sure to put the shells back.
Since we normally may retain only hatchery fish (clipped fin) can you imagine how busy that guy was when he had to "clip" over 500,000 fish? Hmm...
I have had my Traeger for many years and love it. I have only had to take it apart once and it was an easy fix. I highly suggest you get the digital controller if it doesn't already have it. Some of those had a controller with limited settings. The digital control is unlimited for heat settings. You can set that stove on smoke and let a salmon go for 4-6 hrs and it will be juicy and tasty.
Saw boats on the Skagit, getting any Kings?
