Early on I would throw spinner baits and pearl flukes around the wood sea walls. Go deeper around rocky points as the Sun gets overhead and hit the shady sides of the docks. Good luck, let’s us know how you do

In the old days we had swings, today they are gone. The wimps said they were too dangerous. We used to play outside, get skinned knees, arms and hands. Washed them in the creek and kept on playing. Not any more mommie or daddy won’t let the kids get dirty and if they get a skinned knee it’s off to the hospital. The country has raised a bunch of wimps. I live in the foothills of N. Ga and we still have a little bit of the good old days left but it will be gone soon.

Life was so much better in the old days. Very little crime, most everything was so much cheaper. No terrorist attackers, and our government wasn’t corrupted from the top down. I’m 76 and can’t believe how this country has gone downhill from the very top down

I have fished Lanier for fifty years, be careful especially on the weekends. Seems like all the idiots and nut cases come out Sat. And Sun. I prefer the north end, a little less traffic. Lanier is a different Lake weekdays especially spring fall and winter, the best time to fish

Great reel, I would display it and not fish with it, rare to get a reel that age with a nice box as well. I have one just like it and it sits along side some of the original Ambassadors that were made in Sweden

I spent many a day fishing for winter run steelhead north of Monroe on the Skykomish river. It’s been years since I fished that area due to a move to Ga. But caught some really nice fish there. If it’s like many rivers in the state they have been overfished or over netted and ruined.

Get out at first light and fish to midday then pack it in. I fish Lanier from first light until 10/11 then go home. Just to hot to fish thru the afternoon.

I have a friend who fished there weekly. He has been using top water as the sun comes up and doing quite well. He says he is fishing around grass. Sorry I couldn’t give you any firsthand info.

Carters this time of year can be tough. I would use light line 8# and Zoom trick worm. I like black and watermelon green using a 3/16 oz lead on a 3/0 worm hook. Also try a 3” crawfish. I would hit the lake at sunup and throw a Pearl fluke on a 5/0 wide gap hook with a 12 inch leader. Hit any overhangs and stick ups with the fluke until the sun comes up. Good luck

Lanier will be Zoo over the weekend, go early and try top water. I like a pearl fluke weightless in the back of pockets. When the sun comes up go to deep docks with a wacky worm weightless or a black or green trick work with light weight. Try to stay north above Laurel park and even north of Clark’s bridge fishing drops, brush piles and rocks. I have good luck fishing overhanging brush with the fluke, Good luck and post how you do

Hey folks! New to this forum. We're staying way up in Murrayville on Lanier. Renting a boat on Sunday about 40 minutes south of here and was hoping to catch some bass and striper (or anything really) while working our way back north. Just want to have fun and catch some fish. Any help would be appreciated!

Great Lake, trolling motor only. There have been some 30# 5 fish limits come out of the lake. Lake Russell just N of Clark Hill both are Great Lakes. West Point lake, about 70 miles S of Atlanta is also a good lake. The cooler weather we are having will really turn on the bass bite. Good luck and post your catch

If we don’t protect the breeders the stock goes away. Years ago Florida had a severe freeze which resulted in a kill off of millions of Snook. The DNR shut down the fishery for several years until the snook replenished itself then regulated it. Now there is a good stock of fish
