Don’t know if this was a good deal or not, paid $30 for this reel it’s just like the one that I had when my son’s friend that I lent it to stole it. Can’t get it back because he died from drug overdose.
I really like this brand of reel.

Not a bad deal at all, considering they don't make it anymore. Some pretty serious karma..."Steal a reel, die from an overdose".

That’s a great find !!! That was the “Must Have” reel of its day !! I had 3 or 4 and they were great !! I switched to Zebco when they came out with the “Cardinal 4” !! Great collectors piece !!

This was a very popular spinning reel, I think most people during that era , probably started spin casting on a Mitchell 300, Great find!

That’s a nice Mitchell. I had a 300 many years ago, it was very reliable. I saw the reel mentioned a few times in different posts on the Stage and always thought it being an old reel and that it was not manufactured anymore. But to my surprise while looking at reels on the Bass Pro website I came across new Mitchells for sale.

There are: Michell 300, 308 and 310 with 8 ball bearings also a Mitchell 300 Pro with 10 ball bearings, price range is $69.99 to $89.99

The Mitchell 300 spinning reel is to vintage reels as the 1957 Chevy Bel Air is to vintage 1950’s cars….a real classic!

I had one of those CLASSIC REELS. I gave it to a CLASSIC STAGER. I gave mine to Jarheadfishnfool. He really appreciated it.

Sorry you lost the first one. I learned to fish on this reel. It had a busted bail. I used to solder it back after every fishing trip. I was 10.
Great buy👍🎣

Great reel, I would display it and not fish with it, rare to get a reel that age with a nice box as well. I have one just like it and it sits along side some of the original Ambassadors that were made in Sweden

They do still make a Mitchell 300 but it's nothing like the original G-M 300. The original is a classic! I've seen some online for over $200.

That was a good one. Bought mine when in the Navy back in the 1950s in Japan Navy exchange along with two bigger models 306 and 308 I think they were.

I’ve got two, 300’s. A left and right hand. They were Mom and Dad’s from back in the 50’s. Also a 308 that I got for my 12th birthday. That I have on a 4 piece pack pole. The 308 is smaller than the 300, Kerry…🐟on
