Hey folks! New to this forum. We're staying way up in Murrayville on Lanier. Renting a boat on Sunday about 40 minutes south of here and was hoping to catch some bass and striper (or anything really) while working our way back north. Just want to have fun and catch some fish. Any help would be appreciated!

Just a welcome aboard and good luck. Where up north are you from?

Lanier is the most dangerous lake in America. Be careful.

Lanier will be Zoo over the weekend, go early and try top water. I like a pearl fluke weightless in the back of pockets. When the sun comes up go to deep docks with a wacky worm weightless or a black or green trick work with light weight. Try to stay north above Laurel park and even north of Clark’s bridge fishing drops, brush piles and rocks. I have good luck fishing overhanging brush with the fluke, Good luck and post how you do

@Roterhead
Thanks! The dock at the house were renting is super shallow (5 ft tops) and it actually shallows as you go out. But it's not TOO crazy up at this end of the lake (we're north of Wahoo) so we might kayak out nearby.

Actually from Smyrna and grew up in Barrow County not far from Gainesville. Hung out drinking beer (possibly earlier than "allowed" but never learned to fish. Thirty years later I've got a 14 year old that loves fishing and I can't teach him a thing! And guides are getting EXPENSIVE and you don't learn much.

You ain't kidding. Spent time here in my late teens/ early 20's. Definitely had a few folks including a friend or two do some really stupid stuff on busy weekends.
