Another great story RJ.

I remember Wichita Falls had some really great teams in the 50 and 60's, winning multiple TX State championships.

Your story made me recall a football game I played in Jr High that was played against a brand new school.
Well it rained all week before the game and then we traveled on the bus to the game in our white pants and white. jerseys as the visiting team.

On the opening kickoff my buddy and I were lined up and soon after the kick running down the field chasing after the ball that was bouncing around from player to player, each one of us diving try to grab the ball but it was too slick with water and mud to grab. Finally we recovered around the 5 yard line and every player on both sides were covered in mud from head to toe, after just the very first play of the game.

To top it off the new school field was built over a former pig farm.
Let's just say it was a long game and long smelly ride home after that sloppy kickoff.

Glad to hear you got back online Mr Samples after your computer incident.

Those are some good songs, what singer do you like the best for a version of Bobby McGee ?

Most my favorites songs are also from Texas singers or songwriters although one of the older ones is Mr Bojangles which was written by Jerry Jeff Walker who spent a lot of time in Austin TX but was originally from upstate New York.

While fishing in a small East Texas lake a couple years ago, my Brother and I saw what we considered the largest snake we had ever witnessed in many travels across Texas for past 60 years. We assumed it must be some escaped exotic snake of some sort, it looked anywhere from 8' to 10' long with a large girth and swimming on top the water.

About 6 months ago my brother came across this picture from the same lake from a person visiting the local park.
We assume this is what we saw and still the largest we have ever encountered, and a rattler no doubt.

I am a big fan of Old Town Kayaks, well built and stable. PDL 106 or 120 are both good pedal models.
Mine is just a paddle 106 but next one will probable be the pedal version.

Quite the pranksters, that's how me and my buddies are when we get together on a fishing trip.

Also next time I'm in Gainesville, (about 1 hour away) I'm gonna stop at the old Bomber building on Lindsay St. and take a pic.

Bomber Bait was initially sold to a company in Dallas, then to a company is Arkansas. I do not know their name off hand. Just Sayin...RJS

Pradco Company now owns Bomber and about 20 others former bait companies

Great Story about Texoma RJ !

My brother got to fish there in the early 70's before the big Stripers took over as the dominant fish and he would tell me about seeing acres and acres of Sand Bass schooling in the summertime.

This vintage picture or painting used in Magazine ads for Garcia does seem to tell the story. I later got to go fish there many trips with some friends of mine in the late 70's. Always a great adventure on that big Lake.

You can see the reference to Lake Texoma in the small caption.

In Arkansas it's definitely purple on the trees, see it everywhere...

Quote from another source, " The Purple Paint Law originated in Arkansas back in 1987 and means you cannot trespass and/or hunt on the property. Apparently the purple paint law come into effect because "no trespassing" signs were getting destroyed by the elements. "
