During the boom days of the early 1980s, there were a lot of activities going on, so much so it was hard to keep up with all that was happening. My company. Warren Automatic Tool Co. was only one of around six separate companies. I read in the Houston Chronicle once that our group of companies was the largest in the oil patch that was a private group.
While he did not officially have the title of corporate training manager, he filled this role and was a big help on several occasions for me. He related this story to me. The corporate office had received word that a Saudi Prince was to visit Houston and would also be visiting all the different divisions of our corporation. His guide, driver, and personal caretaker would be George.
After the arrival of the prince and getting him checked into his hotel residence, George asked him what he wanted to do, or see. The prince said immediately he wanted to shop for ‘cowboy’ clothes!
George said, ‘well, there are quite a number of styles, what style are you interested in buying?’ The prince responded immediately, “Marlborough Man!”
So George and the Prince go to one of the larger Western Wear stores in Houston. George said he notice the prince bought more than one pair of boots, shirts, Levi’s, and such. He asked him why he bought several of the same things. The prince responded that he had several cousins and they all wanted to dress like cowboys, too!
I couldn’t help but remember the Saudi prince I had befriended in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and the old car we would have to give a push to on cold mornings. Just Sayin…RJS

Another great story, current generations probably don't even know who Marlboro man was.
