St Croix rods any good??

I started collecting St. Croix rods 15 years ago. They have performed well. I have fly, casting, and spinning rods. No problems with any of them.

6' 6" vs 7' 0" Spinning rod

Be sure to mount that President on the rod you are looking at. The “feel” will be affected by the reel weight.

Do St Croix Roda rods break more easily than others?

This is referred to as “high sticking” and can pretty much break any rod tip. The closer you are to holding your fishing pole vertically, the greater the chance of breakage.
