Hi folks. Itโ€™s been a while since I posted on here. Bought a new home near the beach but havenโ€™t had time to get much fishing in.
Anyway, some neighbors and I went to a spot on Matapalo beach and look what I caught.

There are o-rings that are made to be gasoline resistant. Grainger sells them.

I started collecting St. Croix rods 15 years ago. They have performed well. I have fly, casting, and spinning rods. No problems with any of them.

Be sure to mount that President on the rod you are looking at. The โ€œfeelโ€ will be affected by the reel weight.

My 8'6" St. Croix H action rod has survived many years of use. One thing to be careful of is NOT to pull straight down on the line from the tip like when you want a few more inches of free line to temporarily hook into the rod near the reel. It will snap the tip like its a stem of wheat.

This is referred to as โ€œhigh stickingโ€ and can pretty much break any rod tip. The closer you are to holding your fishing pole vertically, the greater the chance of breakage.

Good question! Back in the days when I was acquiring many of their rods (St. Croix) for various applications (25 years ago ish), I recall their advertisements saying "fully made in USA". That made a big impression on me. Now don't take this as gospel, but I believe that over the years they may have undergone some changes on this front.

I am now convicted to do a little homework/research and dig deeper! It is indeed hard to find products nowadays that are made of 100% USA components as well as labor for assembly.

I just read about a Mojo Inshore Casting Rod. Designed in the US and assembled in Mexico.
