I've never caught one,but---I looked it up

The tripletail grows over forty pounds in weight, but these are hard to come by. Most often, they are caught between three and twelve pounds which is the perfect size for eating. The larger fish will likely not have the same taste qualities. The triple tail range is as far north as Massachusetts all the way down through South Florida.

There are quite a few of them in the Gulf, they will put up a nice fight and they are tasty. I have never seen one that big. That is a dandy.

Don’t know as I’ve ever seen one up my ways, but that don’t mean much .

Both Florida and Texas catch them, seems no one here in Louisiana is saying they catch them.

Cool looking fish BB, never heard of anyone ever catching them on the Jersey coast. I’ve seen them on televised fishing shows and have heard that they’re great table fare.

Very cool! I would imagine that when fishing in the ocean, one never necessarily knows what may come up from the depths! It looks like you caught something unique, somewhat rare...and mighty fine in the taste department! Thanks for posting and bon apetite' at the dinner table!

Nice TT there BB. Harris, late summer is when they show up in our lakes. From Timbalier, Borgne into Lake Ponchartrain. Target pilings on platforms, crab floats and flotsam. Artificial and or live shrimp and minnows all work well. The Louisiana Sportsman has numerous articles from captains and fishermen.
