Just got back to Fla today from western mass. I’m in Stuart. Fishing off of Sewells point. Headed to the bait shop soon. Looking for any tips anyone might have. I was here last October and you guys were very helpful. Just curious if there is new or different advice I can use now that it’s February. Or is it pretty much the same as it would have been in October. Thank you!

Ya most of this fish I catch get to live and be caught another day. You def had a great day fishing tho. Hope you have a bunch of ppl coming over for dinner. Never really liked to take more than will be eaten that day or fresh. Once it goes in the freezer it usually ends up being cat food at my house. Fish more..keep less. Keep it fresh!! ⚓️

My buddy introduced me to hogfish the other day. He says it’s the best. I think it was def good. After joining this forum and hearing about crappies all week and how good they are, I gotta catch one of those to eat.

For my money the fish is a blue runner. They have a dark spot on the gill covers unlike yellow jacks. They are often colored with yellow on the extremities. Most importantly yellow jacks that size have oval spots, one of the few jacks that do. The mouth shape is another giveaway.

Yes I agree. It’s a blue runner. I’m calling it.

you have three options. reply, quote reply, quick reply. it's always best to hit quote reply so we all know who you are responding to. such as I have just done

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you .

Sorry I’m not to good with computers. This is my first go at talking with ppl over the internet ever. Said I would never get into that...but here I am. Anyway how do you respond to a specific statement? Where it shows the entry your responding to, above my entry?

I’m not sure if ppl are reading all the comments on this post before they post their comments or not. But to me it seems like if you look at the pics and read comments, this fish has more similarities to the blue runner than a yellow jack. Yet ppl keep saying yellow jack. What am I missing? Was hoping by now there would be a more definitive answer. Looks like this one is still up for grabs.

Yes , I still think this fish has more similarities to the blue runner than the yellow jack. I agree with my man from ma. ( I am also from ma. ). For the same reasons. Fin and line configuration and color. Notice in the pic slight yellow.

This fish was a great fight! I thought it was a baby jack. But now I’m not so sure after seeing pics of small jacks
