This fish was a great fight! I thought it was a baby jack. But now I’m not so sure after seeing pics of small jacks

Similar to a fish I caught in NJ couple years back. That wS I'D as a yellow banded rudderfish.

Hmmm. Been looking up photos and seems to be closest to this “blue runner” to me. ???

Yellow Jack. Blue Runner does not have yellow on it.

It's a Papio in Hawaii, or a jack like the others said

I respectfully disagree Gordon. I have caught blue runners near Marathon with some yellow configuration. I'm with blue runner based on fin configuration and the stripes.

Yes , I still think this fish has more similarities to the blue runner than the yellow jack. I agree with my man from ma. ( I am also from ma. ). For the same reasons. Fin and line configuration and color. Notice in the pic slight yellow.

Blue Runner. Note the prominent black spot on the gill plate. Does not show on the Yellow Jack illustration.
