Well guys. We got out on the water bout 0830. Was a little chilly but not too bad. Had the sheriff comin out behind us so had to go slow from the start where the kayakers usually are. Weren't any today but still kindof a no wake zone.
Anyway, we trolled from the get go and never got a bite for 5 hours. Then bout 130pm we hooked our first fish.
Landed it and it was a keeper so put it in the live well, bout 4 pounds.
Went back down river and started trollin back up and hooked another one but it was a short, bout 17 inches.
Released it and went back down and started upriver again but no more bites.
Trolled bout a mile upriver and decided to turn around and troll back through that section goin the other way.
Started goin down river and shortly afterwards hooked a 3rd fish. That fish was bout 5 1/2 pounds and in the live well it went.
Went back upriver and started down again. Hooked another one bout the same place, bout 4 1/2 pounds. Put it in the live well. It's now bout 2:15 and we decide to try to troll goin back upriver but nothing.
Turn around and are goin to make one last pass down river and then jet back to the dock.
Near the end of our run downriver we hook another one and Ben lands it and it's bout 3 pounds and that's our limit and we call it a day a little after 3pm.
Got back to the dock and loaded up the boat and filleted the fish and got home shortly before dark. Stopped at Brads house to give him the carcasses for crab fishin.
Decided to try out on the Napa again come Saturday.
All in all we didn't do too bad. Caught 5 fish in bout 6 1/2 hours. Total weight, 17 pounds.
All the fish came in the last hour and a half. Right after the high tide turned and started goin out.
Was a little windy but was really a beautiful day.
By the time I got home and cleaned and flushed the boat and put it away and I got in the house and turned the computer on I had been gone for 12 hours. Kindof a long day but worth it.

Monofilament line came out in the early 1950’s. Fluorocarbon line was invented in 1971.

Those of us who were fishing during the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s caught “a few fish” on mono during those years before Fluor came on the scene...and we still do.
All we had to use for trout, bass and panfish for 30 years was 4 to 8 lb mono and we caught lots of fish.

Fluor has certainly given us a line that is less visible in the water, but there are other factors that also influence our catch rates. Learning about the fish you want to catch will also help you catch fish: what they eat, where they prefer to hunt/feed, time of day/night they are most active...
Spend as much time learning about the species you are trying to catch as you do learning about the gear you think will help you catch fish and I think your success rate might just improve...

Around 2:00 A.M. my wife wakes me up and said she had terrific chest pains and was afraid she was having a heart attack. Since we live in a senior complex, she tried to use her personal alarm, but it did not respond. So she used mine and it wasn't long before we had a total of at least 5 EMS men here to take her to the emergency room. I follow in our car.
I am so sorry and hope the best for your wife. I always enjoy your posts (except this one)
We spend the rest of the day, from about 3:00 AM until around about 6:00 PM today before they release her. Did a bunch of tests. She had chest pains and Afibrilllation (I think) was what they called it.

Came home with a new blood thinner and hopes that her
diagnosis is correct. That emergency room was packed, they had patients on hospital beds in the hall, and once I said are you going to put Jean in the hospital. The answer was 'we cant, there's no room!" Since we had arrived so early we had a room in the E.R.

Our RX for the blood thinner was $37 with our medical plan. The pharmacist said it would have been $617 without a plan! Amazing. Just Sayin...RJS
